Notice is given that inspections are to be carried out of memorials in Newport General Cemetery controlled by Newport (Shropshire) Town Council to assess the safety of memorials.
The inspections are carried out on a five year rolling program to identify memorials that are an immediate hazard or unstable.
The inspection programme will start week commencing Monday 23rd February 2026 Where memorials are an immediate hazard, the council will take action to lay the memorial flat.
Where memorials are unstable the council will request the memorial owner to carry out repairs to make the memorial safe.
