Public Notice of Disposal of Open Space
(Section 123(2A) LGA 1972)
1. NOTICE is hereby given, in accordance with Section 123 (2A) of the Local Government Act 1972 that the Borough Council of Worthing (“the Council”) proposes to lease subsoil and undersurface land at Steyne Gardens, Marine Parade, Worthing (“Steyne Gardens”) for the purpose of installing and operating heat network supply apparatus in connection with the Worthing Heat Network.
2. The intended lease will be granted for a term of 99 years and the lease will include associated easements.
3. The land to be leased within Steyne Gardens, Marine Parade, Worthing (“Steyne Gardens”) will comprise of a subsoil and undersurface measuring approximately 496sqm and an easement corridor for installation and maintenance works measuring approximately 985sqm.
4. A plan showing the location and boundaries for the pipeline area and easement corridor are held at the Council Offices Reception, Worthing Town Hall, Chapel Road, Worthing, BN11 1HA and may be inspected between 09:00am and 17:00pm Monday to Thursday, and 09:00am and 16:00pm on Friday (public holidays excluded).
5. Any objections should be made in writing and marked for the attention of the “Major Projects and Investment Team” at Adur and Worthing Councils, with the reference “Steyne Gardens” and delivered to the Town Hall, Chapel Road, Worthing, BN11 1HA or by email to
propertyteam@adur-worthing.gov.uk
by no later than 17:00pm on 29th January 2026.
