THE FLOOD RISK MANAGEMENT (FLOOD PROTECTION SCHEMES, POTENTIALLY VULNERABLE AREAS AND LOCAL PLAN DISTRICTS) (SCOTLAND) REGULATIONS 2010 (AS AMENDED) (“the Regulations”)

NOTICE OF LOCAL HEARING UNDER SCHEDULE 2 PART 8 OF THE FLOOD RISK MANAGEMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2009

GRANGEMOUTH FLOOD PROTECTION SCHEME 2024

NOTICE is hereby given pursuant to Schedule 2 part 8 of the Act, that Falkirk Council (“the Council”) has appointed an independent Reporter to consider outstanding objections to the Grangemouth Flood Protection Scheme, proposed under the Act. The Reporter appointed to make a recommendation to the Council, Ms Sue Bell BSc. MSc, CEcol., C. Env., FCIEEM, C.WEM, MCIWEM, will hold a Hearing on the justification for the scheme and the outstanding objections.

The Hearing will take place at Falkirk Stadium, 4 Stadium Way, Falkirk, FK2 9EE starting on 28 January 2026 and is estimated to last up to two days. Members of the public are welcome to attend to observe. Members of the public may also view the Hearing documents without payment of a fee at the same location during the hours of 10-4pm and online at

The hearing will be recorded and made available shortly after the hearing concludes at

www.grangemouthfloodscheme.com/hearing

for those unable to attend.

The scheme will involve the carrying out of works to reduce the risk of flooding to residential, community and business properties in the communities of Grangemouth, Wholeflats, Glensburgh, Langlees, Carron, Carronshore and Camelon (Stirling Road).

Following the outcome of the Hearing, the Reporter will report to the Council, who must then make a final decision to (a) confirm the scheme without modifications, or (b) confirm the scheme with modifications, or (c) reject the scheme. Notification of the final decision by the Council will be given.
