WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981

DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT FOR THE COUNTY OF KENT

DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER 2023

On 7th November 2025, an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed the above Order without modifications.

The effect of the Order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding a restricted byway numbered EE499 with a width of 5.0 metres, which commences on Selson Lane at NGR TR 3003 5558 (Point A on the order plan) and runs in a north-north-easterly direction for 605 metres to Drainless Road at NGR TR 3032 5611 (Point B).

All distances are approximate, all directions are general.

A copy of the Order as confirmed and Map may be seen free of charge during normal office hours at the offices of Dover District Council, Honeywood Close, White Cliffs Business Park, Dover, CT16 3PJ or at the Kent County Council, History and Library Centre, James Whatman Way, Maidstone, Kent, ME14 1LQ, from 10am-5pm. This Order became operative as from 7 November 2025 but if a person aggrieved by the Order desires to question the validity thereof or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers of Section 53(3)(c)(i) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or that any of the requirements of Schedule 15 to the Act have not been complied with in relation to the confirmation of the Order, they may, under Paragraph 12 of Schedule 15 to the Act, within 42 days from 12th December 2025 make application for the purpose to the High Court.

Notice of the intention to make an Order to temporarily close Public Footpath HB26 in the Parish of Hythe

(Prohibition Of Traffic) Temporary Order 2025

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1), As Amended By The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991

Kent County Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to temporarily close Public Footpath HB26 between its junction with Public Footpath HB27 and Tanners Hill from the 05 January 2026

The path will be closed for a maximum of six months, although it is expected that it will reopen 01 April 2026.

The path is to be closed because of extensive tree felling near the public right of way.

The alternative route is via Public Footpath HB27, Castle Road to North Road and will be signed for the duration of the closure.

RAIL CROSSING DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2023

Notice is hereby given that on, 2 December 2025, the Kent County Council certified that the terms of Article 2 of the above-named Order, requiring works to be carried out had been complied with.

Accordingly, the above-named Order has now taken effect.

PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2025

On 03 December 2025 Kent County Council confirmed the above Order made under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980.

The effect of the Order, as confirmed is to divert the entire width of that length of public footpath KH268, which commences at an unaffected length of public footpath KH268 at NGR TQ 8608 5226 (Point A), and runs in an easterly, then north northeasterly direction for 87 metres to NGR TQ 8615 5230 (Point B), where the path continues unaffected. As shown by the bold line between Points A-B on the Order Plan, and to provide a new length of public footpath numbered KH268, with a width of 2.5 metres, which commences at the aforementioned Point A, and runs in a northeasterly direction for 16 metres to NGR TQ 8609 5227 (Point C), before continuing in a northeasterly, then northerly, then easterly direction for 68 metres to the aforementioned Point B. As shown by the bold broken line between Points A-C-B on the Order Plan.

The Order comes into force from 31 December 2025 but if any person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act which has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may under Paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by Paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 12 December 2025 make an application to the High Court.
