Notice of extension of an Order temporarily closing Public Footpath CB73 in the Parish of Sturry

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 Section 14(1), As Amended By The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991
The Secretary of State for Transport has directed that the Order made by Kent County Council on the 13 June 2022, and subsequently extended until 13 December 2025, the effect of which was to prohibit all traffic from Public Footpath CB73 has been extended for a further 12 months, until the 13 December 2026 or until the completion of the works, whichever is the earlier.
The path is closed between Sweechgate and Herne Bay Road.
The alternative route will be signed on site where possible.

(PUBLIC FOOTPATH KH146 (part), HUCKING)
PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2025
The above-named Order made on 19th November 2025 under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 will divert the entire width of that length of public footpath, which commences at its junction with Public Footpath KH147 at NGR TQ 8298 5797 (Point A on the Order plan) and runs in a west-south-westerly direction for 307 metres to its connection with Coldharbour Lane at NGR TQ 8267 5795 (Point B). As shown between the points A-B on the Order plan and will add a new length of public footpath numbered KH146 with a width of 2.0 metres, which commences at the aforementioned Point A and runs in a westerly direction for 290 metres to its connection with Coldharbour Lane at NGR TQ 8269 5799 (Point C). As shown between the points A-C on the Order plan.

Any representation about or objection to the Order must be sent or delivered in writing to William Barfoot at the Kent County Council (PROW & Access Service, Kent County Council, Sessions House, Maidstone, Kent, ME14 1XQ; William.Barfoot@kent.gov.uk) no later than 2nd January 2026. Please state the grounds on which they are made.
Please note that objections/representations cannot be treated as confidential and may come into the public domain. Copies of any objections or representations received may be disclosed to interested parties, including the Planning Inspectorate where the case is referred to it for determination.
If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Kent County Council may confirm the Order as an unopposed Order. If the Order is sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment for confirmation any representations and objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Order.

and will attend at:
Bobbing Village Hall, Sheppey Way, Bobbing, Sittingbourne, Kent, ME9 8PL
On 14 January 2026 at 10.00am
To hold a public local inquiry into the Order.
The effect of the Order, if confirmed without modifications, will be to divert the entire width of that length of public footpath numbered ZR109, which commences at its connection with public footpath ZR111 at NGR TQ 8864 6472 (point A) and runs south south-west across the railway for 14 metres to an unaffected length of public footpath ZR109 at NGR TQ 8863 6470 (point B), between the points A-B on the Order plan, and it will add a new length of public footpath numbered ZR109, with a width of 2.5 metres, which commences at the aforementioned point B and runs west north-west under the A249 road bridge for 71 metres to NGR TQ 8857 6473 (point D), then runs west, west north-west and west for 98 metres to NGR TQ 8847 6474 (point E), and then runs south-west for 13 metres to its connection with the Sheppey Way at NGR TQ 8846 6473 (point F), between the points B-C-D-E-F on the Order plan.
