What is happening?

Notice of Making a Public Path Stopping Up and Diversion and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order

Town and Country Planning Act 1990, Section 257

Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, Section 53A(2) Dorset Council (Part of Footpath 18 and Part of Footpath 40, Buckhorn Weston) Public Path Stopping Up and Diversion Order 2025

The above order was made on 07 November 2025, under section 257 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

The effect of the order will be to stop up part of Footpath 40 and divert part of Footpath 18 as shown on the order map as follows:

Stopping up of Part of Footpath 40: From the current route: The full width of the footpath from ST 75952482 generally north west via ST 75932483 to point ST 7593524839. (No recorded width) Diversion of Part of Footpath 18: From the current route: The full width of the footpath from ST 75962483 generally west to ST 75932483. (No recorded width) To the new route: From unaffected part of Footpath 18 at ST 75962483 south west to ST 75952482 continuing south west to ST 75952481 then north west to ST 7593324837. Width 3 metres.

A copy of the order and the order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Reception, County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester during normal office hours. Copies are also available on our website at www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/row-orders.

Any representations about or objections to the order may be sent in writing to Alastair Beaven,
Definitive Map Team, Spatial Planning, Dorset Council, County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester, Dorset, DT1 1XJ (Ref: RW/P279), or via email to alastairbeaven@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk, not later than 29 December 2025. Please state the grounds on which they are made. Any letters received will be made available for public inspection.

If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Dorset Council may confirm the order as an unopposed order. If the order is sent to the Secretary of State for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for confirmation any representations and objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the order.

Temporary Closure of Public Footpath N53/2, Sturminster Newton

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along Footpath N53/2, Sturminster Newton from grid reference ST7863314446 to grid reference ST7895214499, a distance of approximately 330 metres.

The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 3rd December 2025 and will remain in force for 26 weeks and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.

This Order is required to allow CG Fry and Sons Ltd to build a housing development.
