Admission arrangements for Year 7 with effect from September 2026
We wish to advise that the Governing Body of Madeley Academy is launching a six week consultation on the Academy’s Admissions Policy in September 2026 and years that follow. The consultation is commencing with immediate effect and will end at 12 noon on Monday 29 December 2025.
Please note, we are NOT making any changes to our existing Admissions Policy. Our existing Policy is as follows:
• Those applicants that live nearest to the Academy should be given priority
• To ensure fairness to all abilities students will be admitted from five bands of ability, a system widely used by other schools in England where there are more applications than places available
• There are no changes to gaining admission for students applying from the following categories and they will be given first priority but they must take the non-verbal reasoning test so that they can be placed in one of the five bands of ability.
o Students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) where the Academy is named on the EHCP
o Siblings. These are students who will have on the day of admission, a brother, sister, step brother, step sister, half brother or half sister living as a family at the same address and who attend the Academy
o Those students who have exceptional health reasons where there is written medical evidence that admission to the Academy is essential for their well-being will also be included in this category
• A non-verbal reasoning test will be used following which each applicant will be placed in one of the five bands
The full details of the policy and process can be accessed via the Madeley Academy website
