What is happening?

CHESHIRE EAST BOROUGH COUNCIL
Notice of Making (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING, LOADING, STOPPING AND STREET PARKING PLACES) (VARIOUS ROADS) (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2022 (Amendment No.40) 2025

Notice is hereby given that on 13 November 2025 Cheshire East Borough Council made an Order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 32, 35, 38, 45, 46, 49, 51, 53 and 61, and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and all other enabling powers and in accordance with its duty under Section 122 of the said Act.

1. The effect of the Order which will come into operation on 8 December 2025 will be to a) Amend the Cheshire East Borough Council (Prohibition and restriction of Waiting, Loading, Stopping and Street Parking Places) (Various Roads) (Consolidation) Order 2022 by;

i. Revoking the existing No Waiting At Any Time as outlined in Schedule 1 below

ii. Introduction of No Waiting At Any Time Except Taxis as outlined in Schedule 2 below

iii. And replacing Map Tile BE152 Rev 0 with BE152 Rev 1 in the Consolidation Order schedules

2. A copy of the Order; a map showing the restricted areas; a statement of reasons for making the Order, a copy of this public notice and a copy of the public notice of the proposal to make the order are available to view at: bit.ly/2RR0UkD or, if you do not have access to the internet, please contact 0300 123 5020 for further details or to request paper copies.

Any person who desires to question the validity of the order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act, or that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with, that person may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the order is made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.

Mill Street, Macclesfield (West side) – from a point 32 metres north-west of the north-western kerbline of Duke Street, for a distance of 24 metres in a north-westerly direction.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 15 – TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF PEDESTRIANS

Public Footpath No. 39 (pt) in the Parish of Lyme Handley)

Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport in pursuance of the power conferred upon him by sub-section (5) of the aforementioned Section 15 has approved the continuing in force of the above Order made on the 2nd June 2020 and effe ctive from the 25th May 2020. To ensure the continued safety to the public due to a damaged footbridge, the Secretary of State now grants a further extension of the said Order until the 25th November 2027 or until the repair of the footbridge whichever is the sooner.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit all pedestrians on that length of Public Footpath No. 39, Lyme Handley which commences on Cornfield Road (UW 2556) at O.S. G.R. SJ 9840 8096 and runs in a generally south westerly direction over the bridge to its junction with public footpath No.37 at OS G.R. SJ 9831 8085.

The closure is required to restrict the access of pedestrians to that part of the Public Footpath accessed over the footbridge.

There is no alternative route.
