What is happening?

Proposed Disposal of Land at Golden Hill Short Stay School, Earnshaw Drive, Leyland, Lancashire, PR25 1QS
Section 77 School Standards and Framework Act 1998

Notice is given in accordance with Section 77 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 (SSFA) that Lancashire County Council, PO Box 100, County Hall, Preston, PR1 0LD intends to make an application to The Secretary of State for Education for consent to the disposal and change of use of land classified as playing field land at Golden Hill Short Stay School, Earnshaw Drive, Leyland, Lancashire, PR25 1QS.
The proposal arises as much of the land has not been in continuous use as playing field land for the period following the demolition and rebuilding of the current facility. As such, the land in its current form is not currently benefitting the school or community surrounding the site. Any future development of the area would involve a change of land classification from playing field land, as defined by the SSFA. Lancashire County Council therefore are required to obtain consent from the Secretary of State.
The formal phase of consultation on the proposed disposal will take place between Monday 17th November 2025 and Wednesday 31st December 2025.

Any comments relating to the proposed disposal must be made in writing to the Head of Estates at Lancashire County Council, PO Box 100, County Hall, Preston, PR1 0LD by 5.00 p.m. Wednesday 31st December 2025.

Under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, representations made about the published proposal may be accessed by members of the public. Comments received by the above deadline will be reported to the Secretary of State as part of the County Council's application for consent.
