THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL
(PUBLIC FOOTPATH AT76 (PART), WITTERSHAM)
PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2025

The above-named Order made on 01 October 2025 under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 will divert the entire width of that length of public footpath numbered AT76 at NGR TQ 8939 2864 (Point A) and travels in a northerly direction for 37 metres to NGR TQ 8938 2868 (Point B), then continues in a north easterly direction for 21 metres to another unaffected length of public footpath AT76 at NGR TQ 8940 2870 (Point C). As shown by the bold continuous line between points A-B-C on the Order Plan and will add a new length of public footpath numbered AT76, with a width of 2.5 metres, which commences at the aforementioned Point A and travels in a north northeasterly direction for 41 metres to NGR TQ 8940 2868 (Point D), then travels in a northwesterly, then northerly direction for 18 metres to the aforementioned Point C. As shown by the bold broken line between Points A-DC on the Order Plan.

If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Kent County Council may confirm the Order as an unopposed Order. If the Order is sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment for confirmation any representations and objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Order.

Notice of extension of an Order temporarily closing Public Footpath CW88 in the Parish of Chestfield

The Secretary of State for Transport has directed that the Order made by Kent County Council on the 18 April 2022, and subsequently extended until 18 October 2025, the effect of which was to prohibit all traffic from Public Footpath CW88, has been extended for a further 12 months, until the 18 October 2026 or until the completion of the works, whichever is the earlier

The path is closed between Public Bridleway CW40 and Public Footpath CW89

An alternative route is available and will be signed for the duration of the closure.

PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER No. 2 2025

The above-named Order was made on 29th September 2025 under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 and will divert the entire width of that length of Public Bridleway HE145, which commences from a point on the existing line of the way at NGR TR 1255 4402 and then running generally south-south-easterly through south-south-westerly for approximately 84 metres to its connection with the public highway known as Lymbridge Green at NGR TR 1255 4395, and will provide a new length of bridleway numbered HE145, with a width of 4 metres, which commences at the aforementioned point at NGR TR 1255 4402 and running generally east through south-easterly through south-south-westerly for approximately 120 metres to a new connection with the public highway known as Lymbridge Green at NGR TR 1256 4394. All directions general, all distances approximate.

The Secretary of State for Transport has directed that the Order made by Kent County Council on the 15 April 2024, the effect of which was to prohibit all traffic from Public Footpath HF53 has been extended for a further 12 months, until the 15 October 2026 or until the completion of the works, whichever is the earlier

The path is closed between The Cliff Top Café and the junction with an unclassified path 350 metres to the south.

There is no alternative route.

NOTICE OF MODIFICATION ORDER

WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981

DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT FOR THE COUNTY OF KENT

THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL
(RESTRICTED BYWAY HE378 AT PADDLESWORTH, HAWKINGE AND NEWINGTON)
DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER 2025

The above Order was made on 24th September 2025 under section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. If confirmed, it will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding a Restricted Bywaynumbered KH378 which commences at the southern end of Fishers Lane at NGR TR 2000 3955 and runs in a generally south-south-easterly direction for approximately 506 metres to a junction with Elvington Lane at NGR TR 2022 3910 (opposite Elvington Farm). The route has an initial width of 6.5 metres at its northern end, gradually narrowing to a width of 3.5 metres at NGR TR 2006 3941 before gradually widening again (via a pinch point of 3.5 metres at TR 2017 3917) to a width of 5 metres at its southern end.

NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF PUBLIC PATH ORDER

PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2023

On 11th September 2025, the Secretary of State for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed the above Order under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980.

The effect of that Order, as confirmed, is to divert the entire width of that length of Public Footpath KH288A at Lea Farm commencing from a point on Public Footpath KH212 at NGR TQ 8999 5295 and then running for 248 metres in a north-north-westerly direction to NGR TQ 8993 5319, then running for 218 metres in a north-north-easterly direction to connect with the unaffected length of the path at NGR TQ 8996 5341 and to provide a new length of Public Footpath numbered KH288A and with a width of 2.0 metres, commencing from the aforementioned point at NGR TQ 8996 5341 and running initially for 65 metres in an east-south-easterly direction to NGR TQ 9002 5338, to then turn in a south-south-westerly direction and running for 82 metres to NGR TQ8999 5330, and then for 352 metres in a southerly direction to connect with Public Footpath KH212 at its junction with Faversham Road at the aforementioned point at NGR TQ 8999 5295. All directions general, all distances approximate.

The Order comes into force on 9th October 2025, but if a person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980 (the Act), as amended, and/or the powers of section 53A of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (WCA) or on the ground that any requirement of either Act or of any regulation made under them has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may under Paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by Paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act,  and as applied by s53A(7) WCA, within 6 weeks from 10th October 2025, make an application to the High Court.

The above-named Order made on 01 October 2025 under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 will divert the entire width of that length of public footpath numbered MR492, which commences at NGR TQ 7149 5889 (Point A), and runs in a south southeasterly direction for 83 metres to NGR TQ 7151 5881 (Point B), then continuing in an east southeasterly direction for 218 metres to NGR TQ 7172 5876 (Point C), then continuing in an east northeasterly direction for 80 metres to NGR TQ 7179 5878 (Point D) where an unaffected length of the public footpath continues. As shown by the bold continuous line between Points A-B-C-D on the Order Plan and adds a new length of public footpath numbered MR492, with a width of 2.0 metres, which commences at the aforementioned Point A, and runs in an easterly direction for 16 metres to NGR TQ 7150 5889 (Point E), then continuing in a southerly direction for 74 metres to NGR TQ 7150 5882 (Point F), then continuing in an east southeasterly, then easterly direction for 310 metres to NGR TQ 7180 5876 (Point G), then continuing in a north northwesterly direction for 22 metres to the aforementioned Point D. As shown by the bold broken line between Points A-E-F-G-D on the Order Plan.

Notice of extension of an Order temporarily closing Public Footpath MT27 in the Parish of Hildenborough

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 Section 14(1), As Amended By The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991

The Secretary of State for Transport has directed that the Order made by Kent County Council on the 21 April 2021, the effect of which was to prohibit all traffic from Public Footpath MT27 has been extended for a further 2 years, until the 21 October 2027.

Reflecting an upturn in the number of recorded safety incidents at the level crossing, Network Rail have requested a temporary closure while alternative options are investigated.

The alternative route is via Philpots Lane, Public Footpath MT28 and Nizels Lane and will be signed for the duration of the closure.

Notice of the intention to make an Order to temporarily close Public Footpaths MU65 and MT41 in the Parish of Hildenborough

Kent County Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to temporarily close Public Footpath MU65 between its junction with Hilden Park Road and Public Footpath MT41 and Public Footpath MT41 to its junction with Public Footpath MT419 from 03 November 2025

The paths will be closed for a maximum of six months, although it is expected that they will reopen 24 December 2025

The paths are to be closed because of works to repair a culvert.
