Notice of Application For Bookmaker’s Licence

TAKE NOTICE that I Richard Garland of Milestone House, Castlebellingham, Co Louth intends to apply to the magistrates Court sitting at Newry on Monday 6 October 2025 at 10.30 a.m for the grant of a bookmaker’s licence. I will be the owner of the business proposed to be carried on under the licence. The required receipts from the Department for The Communities and Department of Agriculture and Rural Development have been lodged in Court.
Any person intending to object to the application shall not less than one week before the 6th of October 2025 serve notice upon the applicant of his intention to object briefly stating his grounds for doing so and serve a copy of the Notice on the Clerk of Petty Sessions, The Courthouse, 23 New Street, Newry BT35 6JD. The grounds for objection are set out in Article 8 (4) and (6) of the above Order i.e. non compliance with the procedure for making the application, unfitness of the Applicant to hold a Bookmakers Licence, that the Applicant has been disqualified from holding Bookmaker’s Licence or has been refused the grant or renewal of a Bookmakers Licence within the previous twelve months or that the Applicant intends to allow the business to be carried on by a person who would be refused a licence or that the Applicant has been convicted of an offence under Part Two of the above Order and Part One of the Betting and Lotteries Act (Northern Ireland) 1957.
