Public Bridleway 566 (Cranleigh) - Temporary Prohibition of Traffic

Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025
On 19 September Surrey County Council will make a temporary order to prohibit all traffic on foot or any other means from entering or proceeding along Public bridleway 566 (Cranleigh) grid ref. 505352 139173, to the junction with Knowle Lane.
The Order is necessary for reason of public safety due to works taking place on a substations and associated excavations of power lines on the Bridleway. It will be in operation from 22 September 2025 until 10 October 2025 or until completion of the works, if earlier, and while the relevant notices are displayed. The Secretary of State for Transport can extend that period if required.
The alternative route for pedestrians and cyclists is as follows: From the western end of the closure, proceed North across the Western end of Stockland Square car park and follow the signs to St James Place. Follow St James Place North to Cranleigh High Street.
Then proceed in a generally South easterly direction until you reach the junction with Knowle Lane and proceed south on Knowle Lane until you reach the eastern end of the closure. Cyclists following this section to dismount. There is no suggested alternative route for users on horseback.
The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorized person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected. The ‘Surrey County Council Public Footpath 566 (Cranleigh) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025 will be made by Surrey County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
