1. NOTICE is hereby given for the purposes of Section 123 (2A) of the Local Government Act 1972 that The District Council of Adur proposes to dispose of, by way of a sale, land at Basin Road South, Southwick forming part of Southwick Beach.
2. The intended sale will be by way of a freehold transfer to the Shoreham Port Authority, including all necessary easements, grants and reservations as appropriate and including a right in perpetuity for access to the beach. The land which is the subject of the intended sale will include Carat’s Cafe (a let commercial property), the pay and display car park at Basin Road South, the public conveniences and beach huts adjacent to the cafe and the promenade and remaining section of the beach and foreshore in Adur District Council’s ownership, including the current public access areas.
3. A plan showing the land which is subject of the intended sale may be inspected at the Shoreham Centre, Pond Road, Shoreham BN43 5WU between 9.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday (public holidays excepted).
4. Persons wishing to make representations relating to the said intended sale should do so in writing to the Property & Investment Manager, Adur and Worthing Councils, Town Hall, Chapel Road, Worthing, BN11 1HA – ref. Southwick Beach Sale - or by email to

propertyteam@adur-worthing.gov.uk,

to be received no later than 5.00pm on Thursday 18 September 2025.
