Notice of Confirmation of Modification Order
SECTION 53 OF THE WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981
STAFFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT FOR THE SOUTH STAFFORDSHIRE DISTRICT
Staffordshire County Council (Byway Open to all Traffic along Gravelly Way, in the parishes of Penkridge, and Brewood and Coven) Modification Order 2023
On the 27th June 2023, Staffordshire County Council confirmed the above Order made under section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 without modification.
The effect of the Order, as confirmed, modifies the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding a length of Byway Open to All Traffic along the boundary between the parishes of Penkridge, and Brewood and Coven - the route known as “Gravelly Way”, commencing on the east side of the A449 trunk road south of Crateford Wood (point A on the map - NGR 391093,309478) and running in a generally east-north easterly direction for approximately 490 metres then in a generally south easterly direction for approximately 35 metres to its terminus west of the footbridge over the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal (point B on the map - NGR 391601,309551).
A copy of the confirmed Order and Map has been deposited and may be seen free of charge at the office of South Staffordshire Council, Wolverhampton Road, Codsall, WV8 1PX and at Staffordshire County Council Reception, Staffordshire Place 1,
Tipping Street, Stafford ST16 2LP during normal working hours, Mondays to Fridays.
Copies of the Order and the Map may be purchased.
The Order came into force on 27th June 2023, but if a person aggrieved by the Order wishes to question its validity or any provision contained within it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 or on the ground that any requirement of the Act or of any Regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order they may under paragraph 12 of Schedule 15 to the Act within 42 days from 21st August 2025 make an application to the High Court.
