Barnsley, Hot Food Takeaway Draft Consultation
What is happening?
BARNSLEY METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL
SPECIAL NOTICE
Consultation on draft Hot Food Takeaway SPD & PAN
The Local Plan (adopted on 3rd January 2019) contains policies to be considered when determining planning applications. Supplementary planning documents (SPDs) contain further advice and explain how these policies will be applied. In addition, Planning Advice Notes (PAN) are used where there is no specific corresponding policy in the Local Plan. In this case the PAN gives guidance on how national planning policy is to be implemented locally.
A number of SPDs were adopted following the adoption of the Local Plan, including the Hot Food Takeaway SPD, and the supporting Planning Advice Note.
The Council are asking for your views on these draft changes to the SPD & PAN during the consultation period, running from Monday 18 August to Monday 15 September 2025. Comments received will be considered when drafting the final versions.
You can find out more about the proposed changes, read both the draft Hot Food Takeaway SPD and the Planning Advice Note, and make your comments on the proposed changes using the online form on our website at www.barnsley.gov.uk/draftspdconsultation from 9am on Monday 18 August 2025.
The documents can also be viewed online or as paper copies at Library@thelightbox, 1 The Glassworks, Barnsley Town Centre and at all branch libraries across the borough, during normal opening hours, from 9am on Monday 18 August. You can access the internet for free at all libraries in Barnsley.
If you can’t complete the online form, you can also submit your comments by:
