What is happening?

City Council Notices 

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS ACACIA AVENUE, COVENTRY 

Coventry City Council, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended), has made a temporary Order, the effect of the Order will be to prohibit vehicles from waiting, loading or unloading, entering or proceeding on Acacia Avenue commencing from its junction with London Road and continuing to its junction with Seagrave Road. The Order will come into effect on 00.01 hours on Wednesday 13th August 2025 and is required to enable Severn Trent Water to carry out a sluice valve chamber rebuild on the said road. 

The maximum duration of the Order is eighteen (18) months or until the said works are completed, whichever is earlier. It is expected that the works will be completed by Friday 15th August 2025. 

The specific closure times will apply as the signage indicates on site. Diversion(s) for vehicular traffic will be as signed on site. Exemptions will be provided for: 

(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or civil enforcement officer in uniform; 

(b) emergency service vehicles, local authority vehicles and statutory undertaker vehicles at the time of an emergency for that vehicle to have access to part of a street under restriction imposed by the Order; 

(c) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; 

(d) local vehicular access to Acacia Avenue. 

Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS RING ROAD, COVENTRY 

Coventry City Council, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended), has made a temporary Order, the effect of the Order will be to prohibit vehicles from waiting, loading or unloading, entering or proceeding on the Ring Road as detailed in the below Schedule. 

The Order will come into effect on 00.01 hours on Monday 11th August 2025 and is required to allow Coventry City Council to carry out VMS maintenance works on the said road. The maximum duration of the Order is eighteen (18) months or until the said works are completed, whichever is earlier. It is expected that the works will be completed by Friday 15th August 2025. 

The roads will be closed or restricted on various nights and durations depending on the progression of works, which will be as signed on site. Diversion(s) for vehicular traffic will be as signed. Exemptions will be provided for: 

(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or civil enforcement officer in uniform; 

(b) emergency service vehicles, local authority vehicles and statutory undertaker vehicles at the time of an emergency for that vehicle to have access to part of a street under restriction imposed by the Order; 

(c) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works;

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS FOR EVENTS AT THE COVENTRY BUILDING SOCIETY ARENA 

2025/26 Coventry City Council, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended), has made a temporary Order, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding along those lengths of road as set out in Schedule 1 below on the dates specified in Schedule 2 between the hours of 16:30 and 22:45 The Order will come into effect at 14:00 on 9th August 2025 and is required to enable the safe access and egress from events and sporting fixtures being held at the Coventry Building Society Arena. There may be events in addition to those listed in Schedule 2 or events which are rearranged once this Order is made. In such circumstances the road closures listed in Schedule 1 may be activated by signage on site. 

Alternative routes for vehicular traffic affected by the closures will be sign posted on site. Pedestrian access to premises on the affected lengths of road will be maintained at all times. Exemptions will be provided for: - 

(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or an accredited traffic marshal; 

(b) emergency service vehicles, local authority vehicles and statutory undertaker vehicles, when necessary, at the time of an emergency for that vehicle to have access to part of a street under restriction imposed by the Order; 

(c) any vehicle being used in connection with the events taking place.

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS DESPARD ROAD 

Coventry City Council (“the Council”), under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, has made a temporary Order thew effect of which would be to prohibit vehicles from waiting, loading or unloading, entering or proceeding on that part of Despard Road commencing outside house no.62 and continuing for approximately 10m in both directions. The Order will take effect from 00.01 hours on Tuesday 12th August 2025 and is required to enable Severn Trent Water to install a boundary box safely. The Order will remain in effect for a maximum duration of 18 months to allow for unexpected events or until the said works are completed. It is expected the works will be completed by Wednesday 13th August 2025 and at the point the Order will lapse. Exemptions to the Order will be provided for: 

(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or civil enforcement officer in uniform; 

(b) emergency service vehicles, local authority vehicles and statutory undertaker vehicles at the time of an emergency for that vehicle to have access to part of a street under restriction imposed by the Order; (c) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; 

(d) local vehicular access Any vehicle waiting in contravention of the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS LONDON ROAD CYCLE LANE, COVENTRY 

Coventry City Council, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended), intends to make a temporary Order, the effect of the Order would be to prohibit vehicles and pedal cycles entering or proceeding on that part of London Road Cycle Lane commencing at the junction of Abbey Road and continuing for approximately 20m in both directions. The Order will come into effect on 00.01 hours on Monday 11th August 2025 and is required to allow for the installation of a new gas connection and temporary low voltage connection to a new site on the said Cycle Lane and road. 

The maximum duration of the Order is eighteen (18) months or until the said works are completed, whichever is earlier. It is expected that the works will be completed by Sunday 24th August 2025. The specific closure times will apply as the signage indicates on site. Exemptions will be provided for: 

(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or civil enforcement officer in uniform; 

(b) emergency service vehicles, local authority vehicles and statutory undertaker vehicles at the time of an emergency for that vehicle to have access to part of a street under restriction imposed by the Order;

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS ST GEORGE’S ROAD, COVENTRY 

Coventry City Council, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended), has made a temporary Order, the effect of the Order will be to prohibit vehicles from waiting, loading or unloading, entering or proceeding on St George’s Road from its junction with Northfield Road to its junction with Binley Road. The Order will come into effect on 00.01 hours on Monday 18th August 2025 and is required to allow Severn Trent Water to install a new water connection on the said road. The maximum duration of the Order is eighteen (18) months or until the said works are completed, whichever is earlier. 

It is expected that the works will be completed by Thursday 21st August 2025. The specific closure times will apply as the signage indicates on site. Diversion(s) for vehicular traffic will be as signed on site. Exemptions will be provided for: 

(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or civil enforcement officer in uniform; 

(b) emergency service vehicles, local authority vehicles and statutory undertaker vehicles at the time of an emergency for that vehicle to have access to part of a street under restriction imposed by the Order; 

(c) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; 

(d) local vehicular access to St George’s Road. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986. TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS EVERDON ROAD, COVENTRY 

Coventry City Council, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended), has made a temporary Order, the effect of the Order will prohibit vehicles from waiting, loading or unloading, entering, proceeding along Everdon Road from its junction with Holbrook Lane. The Order will come into effect from 00:01 hours on Monday 11th August 2025 and is required for allow critical gas mains maintenance works on the highway to take place safely. 

The maximum duration of the Order is eighteen (18) months or until the said works are completed, whichever is earlier. 

It is expected that the works will be completed by 23:59 hours on Friday 15th August 2025. The specific closure times will apply as the signage indicates on site. Diversions for vehicular traffic will be as signed on site. Exemptions will be provided for: 

(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or civil enforcement officer in uniform; 

(b) emergency service vehicles, local authority vehicles and statutory undertaker vehicles at the time of an emergency for that vehicle to have access to part of a street under restriction imposed by the Order; 

(c) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986. TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS BENNETTS ROAD, COVENTRY 

Coventry City Council, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended), has made a temporary Order, the effect of the Order will prohibit vehicles from waiting, loading or unloading, entering, proceeding along Bennetts Road from its junction with Fivefield Road to the front of Keresley United Reformed Church. The Order will come into effect from 20:00 hours on Friday 7th August 2025 and is required for allow new electric supply installation works on the highway to take place safely. 

The maximum duration of the Order is eighteen (18) months or until the said works are completed, whichever is earlier. It is expected that the works will be completed by 06:00 hours on Monday 11th August 2025. The specific closure times will apply as the signage indicates on site. Diversions for vehicular traffic will be as signed on site. Exemptions will be provided for: 

(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or civil enforcement officer in uniform; 

(b) emergency service vehicles, local authority vehicles and statutory undertaker vehicles at the time of an emergency for that vehicle to have access to part of a street under restriction imposed by the Order; 

(c) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works

TEMPORARY PARKING & TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS TERRY ROAD, COVENTRY 

Coventry City Council, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended), has made a temporary Order, the effect of the Order will be to prohibit vehicles from waiting, loading or unloading, entering, proceeding along Terry Road from its junction with Humber Road to its junction with Dragoon Road. The Order will come into effect at 07:00 hours on Sunday, 10 August 2025 and is required to enable repair of defective reinstatement works on Terry Road to take place safely. 

The maximum duration of the Order is eighteen (18) months or until the said works are completed, whichever is earlier. It is expected that the works will be completed by 10 August 2025. Alternative routes for vehicular traffic affected by the closure will be sign posted on site. Exemptions will be provided for: 

(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer in uniform or a civil enforcement officer in uniform; 

(b) emergency service vehicles, local authority vehicles and statutory undertaker vehicles at the time of an emergency; 

(c) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; (d) reasonable local vehicular access to Terry Road. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

TEMPORARY PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY/ FOOTPATH CLOSURES PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY FOOTPATH LANGBANK AVENUE 

Coventry City Council, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended), intends to make a temporary Order, the effect of which would be a closure of the length of footpath detailed in the Schedule below (when appropriate signage is in place). 

The Order would come into operation at 00.01 hours on Friday 15th August 2025, and is required to allow for reconstruction works on the said footpath. The maximum duration of this Order is six (6) months but it is expected that the works would be completed by Friday 22nd August 2025. 

The footpath would be closed or restricted on a number of occasions for various durations, to such an extent as when prescribed signs are displayed. Any alternative route for pedestrians would be sign posted on site and access to premises maintained wherever possible. Exemptions would be provided for: - 

(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or civil enforcement officer in uniform; 

(b) anyone in connection with the execution of the said works;
