West Devon Borough Council - Multiple new car parks named
What is happening?
NOTICE is given that on 29 July 2025 West Devon Borough Council (‘the Council’) in exercise of its powers under sections 32, 33 and 35 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (‘the 1984 Act’) and all other enabling powers made the above Order.
The Order will come into operation on 11 August 2025. The effect of the Order is detailed in the Notice of Proposal dated 19th June 2025, publicised in the local press and displayed in the car parks and further detailed in the Variation Order as follows: • Add the following new car parks be named as follows and incorporated into the West Devon Borough Council (Off Street Parking Places) Order 2022: Bellacouch car park, Chagford, Market Quarter car park, Hatherleigh, Market Square, Hatherleigh

The Council has made a copy of the proposed Order, plans showing parts of the highway and areas affected by the Order and the statement of reasons for proposing to make the changes to the West Devon Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2025 available for public inspection at Kilworthy Park, Drake Road, Tavistock, Devon, PL19 0BZ during normal office hours and on the Council’s website at www.westdevon.gov.uk. Alternatively, if you require a copy to be sent to you free of charge, please call the Council on 01801822 813600 or email a request to parking@swdevon.gov.uk. If you wish to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that they are not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order you may, within six weeks from the date on which the Order was made, apply for that purpose to the High Court.
