What is happening?

THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL 

The Platt (D415) Dormansland Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025 

On 18 July 2025, Surrey County Council made the abovementioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of The Platt (D415) Dormansland as it extends from the western boundary of St Johns Parish Room to the access for the property known as “Skeddaway”. 

Alternative Route – The Platt, West Street, Dormans Road and High Street, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to enable Openreach to facilitate communication and associated works. These works are anticipated to be carried out during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 4 August 2025 for 1 day, between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency services, residents, pedestrians, dismounted cyclists and dismounted equestrians will be maintained at all times.

Kiln Lane (D2840) Brockham Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025 

On 18 July 2025, Surrey County Council made the abovementioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Kiln Lane (D2840) Brockham as it extends from its junction with Mill Hill Lane (D2840) to a point 230 metres east of this junction. 

Alternative Route – Brockham Lane, A25 (Reigate Road) and Old Reigate Road, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to enable Openreach to facilitate communication and associated works. These works are anticipated to be carried out during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 3 August 2025 for 1 day, between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency services, residents, pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times.

Church Lane (C138) Hooley Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2025 

On 18 July 2025, Surrey County Council made the abovementioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to: (a) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Church Lane (C138) Hooley as it extends from it extends from its junction with Church Lane Avenue (D1156) to its junction with Star Lane (C139); and (b) suspend “The Surrey County Council Church Lane (C138) Hooley Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025” insofar as it relates to (a). 

Alternative Route – Star Lane and Church Lane Avenue, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to enable Openreach to facilitate pole replacement and associated works. These works are anticipated to be carried out during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 8 August 2025 for 1 day, between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency services, residents, pedestrians, dismounted cyclists and dismounted equestrians will be maintained at all times.

Fair Lane (D1160) Chipstead Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2025 

On 18 July 2025, Surrey County Council made the abovementioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to: 

(a) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Fair Lane (D1160) Chipstead as it extends from the access for the property known as “Keepers Cottage” to a point 200 metres north; and 

(b) suspend “The Surrey County Council Fair Lane (D1160) Chipstead Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025” insofar as it relates to (a). 

Alternative Route – Fair Lane, High Road and Rectory Road, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to enable Openreach to facilitate pole replacement and associated works. These works are anticipated to be carried out during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 6 August 2025 for 1 day, between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency services, pedestrians, cyclists and dismounted equestrians will be maintained at all times.

D424 Woodhurst Lane, Oxted Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025 

On 23 July 2025 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of D424 Woodhurst Lane, Oxted that extends from its junction with D812 Spring Lane, to its junction with D804 Woodhurst Park. This Traffic Order is required to enable ALS Civils and/or Franklin Infrastructure to make a new electrical connection and/or to carry out maintenance works in D424 Woodhurst Lane, Oxted between D425 Quarry Road and Burntwood Drive. These works are anticipated to be carried out between the hours of 8am and 6pm within 2 weeks of the 12 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 04 August 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be required for 24 hours each day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and, dismounted equestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times via a temporary walkway. Access for emergency services, residents, businesses will be maintained at all times via the 

alternative route:- East Hill, Rockfield Road, Wolf’s Hill, Hurstlands, Greenhurst Lane, Hurst Green Road and Woodhurst Lane.

Walliswood Green Road (C49) Wallis Wood Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025 

On 23 July 2025 Surrey County Council made the abovementioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Walliswood Green Road (C49) Wallis Wood as extends from its junction with (D292) Standon Lane to its junction with the property known as “Stonehouse Wood”. 

Alternative Route – Walliswood Green Road; Abrams Lane; Horsham Road; The Green; The Street; Ockley Road; Horsham Road; and Walliswood Green Road. This 12-month Temporary Traffic Order which commences on 05 August 2025 is required to facilitate new electrical connection works and/or any other associated works to be carried out by, or on behalf of UKPN within the length of road described in this notice. These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible over four days between the hours of 8am and 5pm. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will operate only when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for residents, the emergency services, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times by operatives on site. All other traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route.

Jolliffe Road (D1159) Merstham Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025 

On 23 July 2025 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of Jolliffe Road (D1159) Merstham. This Order is required to facilitate bridge inspection works for, or on behalf of Centurion Traffic Management. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 1 night, between the hours of 10pm and 6am, during the 18-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 05 August 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists, via the marshals on site. There is no alternative route for this closure.

A2003 Chalkpit Lane, Dorking Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025 

On 23 July 2025 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of A2003 Chalkpit Lane, Dorking which extends from its junction with X14164 Portland Road to its junction with D2854 Parkway. 

This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate improvement works and/or associated carriageway resurfacing, road markings and footway widening works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 28 July 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period. 

Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained when safe to do so and if necessary via the signed diversion route. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. Alternative Route (southbound) – A2003 Chalkpit Lane, A2003 Ashcombe Road, A24 London Road, A24 Deepdene Avenue, A25 Reigate Road, A25 High Street, A25 South Street, A25 Vincent Lane, A25 West Street and A2003 Station Road; Alternative Route (northbound) – A2003 Station Road, A25 West Street, A25 High Street, A25 Reigate Road, A24 Deepdene Avenue, A24 London Road, A2003 Ashcombe Road and A2003 Chalkpit Lane.

Millers Lane (C65) Outwood Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025 

Surrey County Council propose to make the abovementioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Millers Lane (C65) Outwood as extends from its junction with Scotts Hill (C70) to a point 240 metres west of this junction. 

Alternative Route – Scotts Hill, Normans Road, Chapel Road, Rookery Hill and Millers Lane, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to enable Openreach to facilitate pole testing and associated works. These works are anticipated to be carried out during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 20 August 2025 for 1 day, between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency services, residents, pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times.

Croydon Road (A242) Reigate and Hooley Lane (C222) Redhill Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025 

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit all traffic from entering or proceeding in that length of; (a) Croydon Road (A242) Reigate that is crossed under the bridge known as “Croydon Road” (RSJ 1219) and for a distance of 20 metres either side. Alternative Route: (A242) Croydon Road, (A25) Reigate Road, (A25) Hatchlands Road, (A25) Linkfield Corner, (A25) Station Road, (A25) Queensway, (A25) London Road, (A23) London Road, (A242) Gatton Park Road, and (A242) Croydon Road, or this route in reverse; (b) Hooley Lane (C222) Redhill that is crossed under the bridge known as “Hooley Lane” (VTB3 102 and 102A) and for a distance of 20 metres either side. 

Alternative Route: (1) Hooley Lane, (A23) Brighton Road, (A23) Marketfield Way, (A25) Redstone Hill, and Redstone Hollow; (2) Redstone Hollow, (A25) Redstone Hill, (A23) Marketfield Way, (A23) Brighton Road, and Brook Road. This Order is required to facilitate bridge inspection works for, or on behalf of Network Rail. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 1 night, between the hours of 10pm and 6am, during the 18-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 20 August 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists, via the marshalls on site.

Various Roads in Burgh Heath and Banstead Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025 

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to:- (a) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of roads as specified in the Schedule to this Notice; (b) prohibit vehicles proceeding on A217 Brighton Road, Burgh Heath/Banstead from entering D1013 Brighton Road Service Road Between Burgh Road and Tattenham Way, Banstead, on reaching the gap in the verge dividing the northbound carriageway and the service road, situated at or adjacent to No.110; (c) prohibit vehicles proceeding southbound on A217 Brighton Road, Burgh Heath/Banstead from entering the northbound A217 Brighton Road, Burgh Heath/Banstead, on reaching the gap in the central reservation opposite the junction of Wood Lane. 

This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 11 August 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period.

Schedule 1. that length of A217 Brighton Road (northbound carriageway), Burgh Heath/Banstead which extends from a point 100m south of its junction with B2221 Tattenham Way to a point 70m north of its junction with B2221 Tattenham Way; 

Alternative Route 1 – A217 Brighton Road (northbound), A240 Reigate Road, A2022 Fir Tree Road and A217 Brighton Road (southbound); Alternative Route 2 – A217 Brighton Road (southbound), A240 Reigate Road and B2221 Tattenham Way; 2. the entire length of D1013 Brighton Road Service Road from Tattenham Way to 1 Ruffetts Way, Burgh Heath. There is no diversion route possible however access will be maintained to properties.
