Compulsory Purchase Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that SP Transmission plc in exercise of the powers conferred by the above mentioned Acts, on 30 June 2025, made the above mentioned Compulsory Purchase Order which affects the land described in Part One of the Schedule hereto, for the purposes connected with the carrying on of the activities which it is authorised by its transmission licence to carry on in respect of the Substations Project (as defined in the Order and repeated subject to necessary changes in Part Two of the Schedule hereto).
The Order is about to be submitted to the Scottish Ministers for confirmation and comes into operation only if confirmed.
A copy of the Order and of the Map referred to therein have been deposited at Lesmahagow Library and Stonehouse Library and may be seen there without the payment of fee at the following times:

Part One
Plot number on Map
Description of the land

Approximately 3015 square metres of land located between the B7078 and Coalburn Substation, near Lesmahagow, South Lanarkshire.

Approximately 125 square metres of land located between the B7078 and Coalburn Substation, near Lesmahagow, South Lanarkshire.

Approximately 58 square metres of land located between the B7078 and Coalburn Substation, near Lesmahagow, South Lanarkshire.
Part Two
“Connections”
means electrical connections to be installed within the land, including:
Coalburn Battery Energy Storage Facility; and
Coalburn 2 Energy Storage Facility.
“Coalburn Substations”
means:
The existing Coalburn 400/132kV Substation located south of Lesmahagow in South Lanarkshire; and
The new Coalburn North 400kV Substation granted planning permission by South Lanarkshire Council on 9 October 2024 under reference P/24/0320, which will be located at the north side of the existing Coalburn Substation in South Lanarkshire.
“Substations Project”
means:
Installation, operation, inspection, maintenance / repair and replacement / removal of existing connections and the Connections;
Ancillary development including (but not limited to) working areas and laydown areas required for delivery of the Connections; and
Securing the Land for purposes including rationalising and securing access to and from the Coalburn Substations for construction, operation, inspection, maintenance / repair and replacement / removal, including for ensuring security of tenure for 24 hour access and long-term maintenance of the visibility splays required for safe access.
