What is happening?

(Guid Nychburris Festival) (Temporary Traffic Management) Order 2025

The Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to temporarily close roads around Dumfries Town Centre as follows:

15/6/25, 10.30 to 11.15am;
Buccleuch St, High St, Nith Pl, St Michael St.

15/6/25, 12.00 noon to 12.50pm;
St Michael St, Nith Pl, High St, Buccleuch St.

16/6/25, 6.30 to 7.20pm;
Buccleuch St, Church Cres, High St.

16/6/25, 7.45 to 8.00pm;
High St, Church Cres, Academy St.

21/6/25, 8.00am to 4.00pm;
High St and Bank St (between Irish St and the High St).

21/6/25, 12 noon to 9.00pm;
Newall Terr (Loreburn St to Catherine St).

21/6/25, 4.30 to 9.00pm;
Newall Terr (Catherine St to Lovers Walk), Lovers Walk, St Mary’s St, English St, Shakespeare St, Nith Pl, Nith St, Whitesands, Church Cres, Academy St, Loreburn St.

21/6/25, 4.30 - 9.00pm;
Buccleuch St.

21/6/25, 4.30 - 9.00pm;
the ‘No Right Turn’ prohibition from Charlotte St into Buccleuch St is temporarily suspended.

The closures are necessary to hold Guid Nychburris events. There are no alternative routes. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Full details are available on www.dumgal.gov.uk or www.TellMeScotland.gov.uk 

(Various Car Parks) (Use Restrictions) Traffic Regulation Order 1985 

(As Amended) Suspension Of Use Of Newall Terrace (Council Offices, Loreburn Lesser Hall And North Side) Car Parks, Dumfries

In accordance with the provisions of Article 10 of the above Traffic Regulation Order, the Council gives notice that the use of the Newall Terrace (Council Offices and North Side) car parks and Loreburn Lesser Hall car park shall be suspended from 12:00 to 21:00 21/06/25 to accommodate use associated with the annual Guid Nychburris parade. 

There will be no vehicular or pedestrian access permitted other than in connection with, and as authorised by, the organisers of the event.

(U394n North Street) (Temporary Traffic Regulation Order) Order 2025

The Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to temporarily close the U394n at Nathanlea Cottage, North St, Moniaive from 9am – 9pm on 13/06/25. 

The closure is necessary to facilitate Scottish Water ironwork repair. Alternative route available via North Street, Ayr Street, U398n, North Street and vice versa. 

Emergency access will be available. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

(Microsurfacing – Various Roads, Dumfries & Galloway) 
(Temporary Closure) Order 2025

The Council hereby give notice under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 of their intention to temporarily close the following roads at the following locations:

U827n Maple Avenue, Dumfries
U695n Criffel Road, Dumfries
U783n Irish Street, Dumfries

The closures are necessary in the interests of road safety to facilitate carriageway surfacing works. 

The closures are planned to be undertaken during the period of 16th June 2025 to 08th August 2025 and shall have effect only at such times as indicated by appropriate signs.

Works will be carried out as part of a rolling closure, with road reopening as works progress. Emergency Vehicle access will be maintained at all times. 

Vehicle and pedestrian access to properties within the closed section will be maintained where practicable.
