What is happening?

Pre-application community consultation for a

proposed battery energy storage system and synchronous condenser development at Quarterland Road, Islandmagee, Larne

In accordance with planning regulations Green Energy Hub NI Ltd, the prospective applicant, is holding a Pre-Application Community Consultation event on plans to develop a battery energy storage system and synchronous condenser at lands to the south of 15 Quarterland Road, Islandmagee, Larne, BT40 3RW.



The proposed development comprises a battery energy storage system (BESS) 1.2 GW, synchronous condenser, new access lanes, improvements to Quarterland Road and ancillary development (in substitution for scheme approved under planning ref LA02/2023/1283/F).



A public consultation event will take place on Thursday 5th June 2025 between 5pm and 8pm at Larne Golf Club, 54 Ferris Bay Road, Islandmagee, Larne, BT40 3RT.



This will be a ‘drop-in’ session where members of the public are welcome to stop by, view the plans, speak to members of the project team and provide feedback before any planning application is submitted.

This notice does not relate to a planning application. Comments should not be made to Mid and East Antrim Borough Council. Any comments made to the prospective applicant are not representations to the planning authority. If a formal planning application is submitted to the Council, local advertisement and neighbour notification will be undertaken and there will be an opportunity to make representations to the Council at that time.
