What is happening?
LOCAL GOVERNMENT FINANCE ACT 1992, SECTION 11B
VARIATION OF COUNCIL TAX CHARGES
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bolsover District Council made the following determinations in respect of long term empty dwellings pursuant to section 11B of the Local Government Finance Act 1992, as amended, (“the Act”).
1. That the discount under section 11(2)(a) of the Act shall not apply, and for the financial year beginning on 1st April 2026, the council tax payable on any long term empty dwelling where –
i the period specified in section 11B(8) of the Act ending on the relevant day is at least 1 year but less than 5 years, shall be charged an additional 100% premium
ii the period specified in section 11B(8) of the Act ending on the relevant day is at least 5 year but less than 10 years, shall be charged an additional 200% premium
iii The period specified in section 11B(8) of the Act ending on the relevant day is at least 10 years, shall be charged an additional 300% premium
