Council Tax Discounts

Chichester District Council as billing authority gives notice that the following determinations have been made and shall apply from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026.
Class A
Furnished dwellings (including second homes), not used as anyone’s sole or main residence and occupation prohibited by law for a continuous period of at least 28 days.
Discount Nil
Class B
Furnished dwellings (including second homes), not used as anyone’s sole or main residence and no occupation restrictions apply.
Discount Nil
Class C
Chargeable unoccupied and substantially unfurnished dwellings.
Discount Nil
Class D
Vacant dwellings which require or are undergoing major repair work to render them habitable or are undergoing structural alteration or have undergone major repair work to render them habitable, if less than six months have elapsed since the date on which the alteration was substantially completed and the dwelling has continuously remained vacant since that date. (Discount will be awarded for a maximum of 12 months).

Long term empty properties which have been unoccupied and substantially unfurnished for at least 1 year but less than 5 years.
100% premium
Empty Homes Premium
Long term empty properties which have been unoccupied and substantially unfurnished for at least 5 years but less than 10 years.

Empty Homes Premium
Long term empty properties which have been unoccupied and substantially unfurnished for at least 10 years or more.
300% premium
Classes A and B do not include a caravan pitch, boat mooring, or empty dwellings where the liable person is required to live elsewhere through reasons of employment.
