REQUESTS

COMMENCEMENT OF PRIMARY EDUCATION IN AUGUST 2025
Children who reach 5 years of age on or before 13 th August 2025 must commence
primary education at the start of the school session in August 2025.
Children who become 5 years of age after 13 th August 2025 but before 01
March 2026 can also start school in August 2025.
PRIMARY 1 ENROLMENT ARRANGEMENTS FOR AUGUST 2025
At Primary 1 entry, parents are entitled to enrol their children at their catchment
non-denominational school or denominational (RC) school if baptised Roman
Catholic. 
Online Enrolment forms will be accepted www.falkirk.gov.uk/schoolenrolment from
1st November - 31 st December 2024
PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOL PLACING REQUESTS FOR
AUGUST 2025
Parents/Carers who wish their child to attend a school other than their catchment
school, or to change from a non-denominational primary to a denominational (RC)
secondary school or vice versa, should do so by completing a placing request.
Online placing requests can be made via the Council’s website
www.falkirk.gov.uk/placingrequests Written forms are available from all schools or
Children’s Services, and should be submitted to the Director of Children’s Services
at the address below. Information on all schools is available on the Council’s
website www.falkirk.gov.uk
P1 children should be enrolled at their catchment area school for their home
address whilst awaiting the outcome of their Placing Request application.
Placing Request applications will be accepted from Thursday 5 th December 2024
to 15th March 2025. Parents/carers will be notified of the outcome in writing by
30th April 2025. Placing Requests received after the 15th March 2025 will not be
considered in the first round of Placing Requests.
Falkirk Council’s Admissions Policy deals with prioritisation of admissions to
schools for both enrolments and placing requests. The policy is available for
inspection on the Council’s website www.falkirk.gov.uk/admissions or by request
to Children’s Services.
