Notice of Additional Public Consultation Event –
Cross Border Connection

Following recent SP Energy Networks public consultation events, we are holding an additional consultation event in Hawick on 15th October. It is an opportunity to find out more about its proposals for the proposed Cross Border Connection – Gala North to Scottish Border (SP Energy Network’s Project).

A reminder that the proposed SP Energy Network’s Project consists of three elements to the proposals:

The construction of a new double circuit 400kV overhead line, running north-south from Gala North substation proposed near Lauder, to the proposed Teviot substation.
The construction of the proposed Teviot substation; and
The construction of a new 400kV overhead line running from the Teviot substation to a point at the border.

The proposed line would be between 75km and 85km, running from the proposed new Gala North substation to a point at the Scotland-England border, south of Newcastleton. The line would connect to the new proposed Teviot substation, which would potentially be located close to Whitrope. The proposed overhead line would use a 400kV double circuit line supported by steel lattice towers.

Full project information will be available online at
spenergynetworks.co.uk/pages/cross_border_connection.aspx.

Our additional in-person event is planned to be held at the below date and time:
