What is happening?

Notice under s.3 of the Reverter of Sites Act
1987

The former School House of All Saints Church of
England School, Clifton in the County of
Bedfordshire
Whereas
By a Conveyance dated 8 March 1866 between
Reverend Henry Hugh Miles (1) and Edward Smith
(2) the site (and buildings including a schoolmaster’s
house) of what became known as All Saints Church
of England School was granted to the Vicar of the
ecclesiastical parish of Clifton in the county of
Bedfordshire as trustee pursuant to section 2 of the
Schools Sites Act 1841.
2. The said schoolmaster’s house ceased to be
used for the purposes of a voluntary school in 1976
and pursuant to section 1 of the Reverter of Sites
Act 1987 a trust for sale has arisen in respect of the
said premises.
Now take notice
• The St Albans Board of Finance intends
to make an application
• Either
• to apply to the Charity Commission for
England and Wales under section 2 of the Reverter
of Sites Act 1987 for an Order establishing a
Scheme with respect to the property subject to the
said trust which will:
o Extinguish the rights of the beneficiaries
under the trust; and
o Require the Trustee to hold the said
property on trust for such charitable purposes as
may be specified in the Order.
o Or to the Secretary of State for
Education for the inclusion of the above premises in
an Order under section 554 of the Education Act
1996; the purpose of the Order is to allow the
assets of the foundation to be used for the benefit
of new and continuing schools of the same
denomination within the diocese. The same Order
will extinguish the rights of any beneficiary under
the trust for sale.
2. Any beneficiary who wishes to oppose the
extinguishment of his rights should notify his claim

in writing to Rebecca Martin at Lee Bolton Monier-
