Notice of Designation of Selective Licensing Area
The Northumberland County Council - Designation of
an Area of Selective Licensing (Croft Ward, Blyth) 2024

TAKE NOTICE THAT:
1 On 9th July 2024 Northumberland County Council in exercise of its powers under section 80(1)(b) of the Housing Act 2004 (“the Act”) designated the area described in paragraph 2 below as a Selective Licensing Area for residential accommodation under Part 3 of the Act.
2 The Designation applies to each street within the Croft Ward area of Blyth, bounded by and including Hodgsons Road (B1329) to the north; Waterloo Road/Bridge Street (B1328) to the south; Regent Street (B1329) to the east; and Renwick Road (A193) to the west.
3 The Housing Act 2004: Licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation and Selective Licensing of Other Residential Accommodation (England) General Approval 2015 applies to the making of this Designation.
Citation, commencement and duration
4 This designation may be cited as the Northumberland County Council - Designation of an Area of Selective Licensing (Croft Ward, Blyth) 2024.
5 The Designation shall come into force on Monday 14th October 2024 and shall cease to have effect at the end of the period of 5 years from that date, unless revoked any earlier by the Council under section 84 of the Act.
6 The Designation and a plan of the Designated Area may be inspected on the Council’s website at https://www.northumberland.gov.uk/Housing/Landlords.aspx and at the following addresses:
Civic Centre, Renwick Road, Blyth, NE24 2BX
Compass House, 68 Freehold Street, Blyth, NE24 2AB
Blyth Town Council, Arms Evertyne House, Quay Road, Blyth, NE24 2AS
Buffalo Community Centre, The Stale Annex, 55 Regent Street, Blyth, NE24 1LL
7 Any landlord, person managing or tenant of private residential accommodation within the Designated Area may seek advice from the Council on whether their property is affected by this Designation by contacting the Council at the address given below.
WARNING:
8 As from Monday 14th October 2024 any landlord or other person who controls or manages private rented accommodation in the Designated Area must apply for such properties to be licensed under Part 3 of the Act and applications may be obtained from the address given below.
9 Applications may be made online as from Monday 16th September 2024 at https://www.northumberland.gov.uk/Housing/Landlords.aspx.
10 Failure to hold a Licence where required is an offence which carries an unlimited fine or the imposition of a civil penalty.
