What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL 

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Petford Street, Cradley Heath) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Petford Street between the junctions of Peartree Lane and Bearmore Road (south-eastern side). 

Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Peartree Lane, Pearson Street, Clyde Street and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 27/09/2024 effective from 23/09/2024 (24hr). 

Purpose – to facilitate access to lay new domestic gas services by Cadent Gas Limited. 

The Borough Council of Sandwell (The Expressway, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along The Expressway, which will be closed in a north-westerly direction from the M5 junction 1 roundabout to the junction of Trinity Way. 

Traffic will be diverted via M5 junction 1 roundabout, Birmingham Road (north-westerly direction) and Trinity Way. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 26/09/2024 effective from 25/09/2024 (9pm - 6am). 

Purpose – to facilitate access to remove leaning trees by Midland Forestry on behalf of Sandwell MBC. 

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Grove Lane, Smethwick) (Bus Lane) (Temporary Exemption) Order 2024 intends to make an order to temporarily add an exemption to the terms of ‘The Borough Council of Sandwell (Grove Lane, Smethwick) (Bus Lane) Order 2022’ allowing access for site vehicles needing to enter the site of the Midland Metropolitan Learning Campus located ajacent to the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital

. Item 4 of the above order is temporarily amended to: No person shall cause or permit any vehicle other than a bus, cycle or site vehicle wishing to access the Midland Metropolitan Learing Campus to enter, wait or proceed in the following length of road: Grove Lane from a point 83 metres from its junction with the southbound carriageway of A457 Grove Lane (dual carriageway). The terms and provisions in ‘The Borough Council of Sandwell (Grove Lane, Smethwick) (One-Way Traffic) Order 2022’ will not be affected by this order. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 24/11/2025 effective from 23/09/2024. 

Purpose – to facilitate works associated with the Midland Metropolitan Learning Campus by Kier Construction Ltd.

 The Borough Council of Sandwell (Newhall Road, Rowley Regis) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Newhall Road, which will be closed at the junction of Bell End for a distance of 25 metres.

 Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Bell End, Rowley Village, Church Road and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 25/09/2024 effective from 23/09/2024 (24hrs). 

Purpose – to facilitate access for reinstatement works by Daneways Ltd on behalf of Cadent Gas Ltd.

 The Borough Council of Sandwell (Hall Road, Smethwick) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Hall Road, which will be closed from its junction with Londonderry Lane to the dividing line of property Nos.55 & 57.

 Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Londonderry Lane, Manor Road and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 04/10/2024 effective from 23/09/2024 (8am - 6pm). 

Purpose – to facilitate access for gas service works by Trinity Team on behalf of Cadent Gas Ltd.
