What is happening?
NOTIFICATION OF DETERMINATION THAT IMPROVEMENT WORKS ARE NOT LIKELY TO HAVE SIGNIFICANT EFFECTS ON THE ENVIRONMENT - THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT (LAND DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT WORKS) REGULATIONS 1999 (AS AMENDED)
This notice has been prepared by the Middle Level Commissioners (hereafter referred to as MLC) in accordance with the requirements of The Environmental Impact Assessment (Land Drainage Improvement Works) Regulations 1999 (as amended) (hereafter referred to as 'the Regulations'). MLC is proposing to install a new tilting weir approx. 80m southwest of the existing weir (TL TL222963) on the Pig Water channel (River Nene), Stanground, Peterborough (TL221962), and decommission, but not remove the existing weir, to improve the control of water entering the Middle Level system. MLC have undertaken a detailed assessment and have made a determination, as required by Regulation 4, taking into account the criteria set out in Schedules 2 and 2A of the Regulations, that the proposed improvement works are not likely to have significant effects on the environment. MLC have prepared a non-statutory environmental report, detailing the potential environmental impacts that have been assessed and the mitigations that have been embedded into the works approach, to avoid or minimise any impacts. The report is available upon written request, from the address detailed below. Any person wishing to make representations in relation to the likely environmental effects of the proposed improvement works should do so in writing to the address detailed below within 30 days of the date of publication of this notice.
