What is happening?

PUBLIC NOTICE

Wakefield Council gives notice that on 24th July 2024 at a meeting of the full Council, it resolved, under Section 13, to apply those provisions contained within Sections 14 to 17 (inclusive) of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 (as amended), which require any person carrying on the business of: Acupuncture; Cosmetic-piercing; Electrolysis; Semi-permanent skin colouring; Tattooing; within the Wakefield area, to be registered for each activity undertaken, at the premises where the person will be practising. These provisions shall come
into force across the district from 1st November 2024.
In accordance with Section 236 of the Local Government Act 1972, full Council also resolved to make byelaws for all treatments. Confirmation is now being sought for these consolidated byelaws, by virtue of Sections 14(7) and 15 (7) of the 1982 Act. The byelaws will secure the cleanliness of persons, premises and equipment. A copy of the proposed, consolidated byelaws can be viewed online at www.wakefield.gov.uk/lgacosmeticbyelaws or, alternatively, a hard copy can be viewed by calling at the reception in Wakefield One, Burton Street, Wakefield, WF1 2EB during office hours. It shall be an offence to fail to register, fail to display a relevant registration certificate or byelaws within the premises and to fail to comply with the relevant byelaws.
