Water Resources Act 1991 (as amended by the Water Act 2003) Notice of application to vary a full licence to abstract (take) water

Shotley Holdings Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number 8/36/19/*S/0046, which authorises the abstraction of water from surface water for spray irrigation at Coppey Farm, Bentley, Ipswich, Suffolk at National Grid Reference TM 12031 35932.

The proposed changes are as follows:

* Adding dust suppression, topping up of a fire water storage lagoon, and soil washing as new purposes to the licence.

* Changing the current licensed abstraction period from the summer period (1 April to 31 October) to all-year for new purposes.

* Changing the current licensed abstraction hourly rate from 68.4 cubic metres (m3) to 25 m3, and the daily rate from 590 m3 to 70 m3.

There will be no changes to the instantaneous and yearly

abstraction rates. Additionally, water abstraction for spray

irrigation will not occur during the period for water

abstraction for the new purposes.
