Sandwell - Various Temporary Road Works and Closures

What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Heronville Drive, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Heronville Drive, which will be closed from the gable end of property Nos.9/11 to the gable end of property Nos.13/15. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Heronville Road, Ebenezer Street, Dial Lane, Harvills Hawthorn, New Street, Norbury Road and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 23/07/2024 effective from the 08/07/2024 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access to lay new water service pipes by Onsite on behalf of South Staffs Water

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Charlemont Road, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Charlemont Road, which will be closed between the junction of Meadow Avenue (western side) and Bird End (eastern side). Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Beaconview Road, Smithmoor Crescent, Meadow Avenue and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 09/07/2024 effective from the 08/07/2024 (9:30am–3:30pm each day). Purpose – to facilitate access to repair a chamber located in the carriageway by John Henry Group.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Halesowen Road, Cradley Heath) (Temporary One-Way Road Closure) Order 2024 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Halesowen Road other than in a northerly direction, between the junction of Cox’s Lane to the junction of Ashtree Road. A diversion route for southbound traffic will be signed via Halesowen Road, Saltwells Road, Cradley Road, Newtown Lane, Upper High Street, Reddal Hill Road. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 12/07/2024 effective from 10/07/2024 (24hrs). Purpose – repair works carried out by South Staffs Water. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Chapel Lane, Wilderness Lane and A34 Birmingham Road, Great Barr) (Temporary Road Closures and Prohibition of Right Turning) Order 2024 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along the following roads in Great Barr: Chapel Lane will be closed from its junction with A34 Birmingham Road to its junction with Coronation Road (anticipated dates 05/07/2024 – 02/08/2024). Vehicles will be diverted via A34 Birmingham Road, Queslett Road, Beacon Road, Old Hall Lane, Pinfold Lane and vice- versa. A34 Birmingham Road, vehicles will be prohibited from turning right into Chapel Lane off A34 Birmingham Road (anticipated dates 05/07/2024 – 02/08/2024). Vehicles will be diverted via A34 Birmingham Road, around the roundabout at Broadway, back southbound onto A34 Birmingham Road where the main diversion route can be joined. Wilderness Lane will be closed at the following locations: Phase 1–Q3 Academy to Sycamore Road (anticipated dates 05-10/08/2024); Phase 2–Sycamore Road to Peak House Road (anticipated dates 11-16/08/2024); Phase 3–Peak House Road to A34 Birmingham Road service road (anticipated dates 17-27/08/2024). The primary diversion route for all three phases will be the same, vehicles will be diverted via Monksfield Avenue, Newton Road, A34 Birmingham Road and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 27/08/2024 effective from 05/07/2024. Purpose – installation of new electricity cables by National Grid Electricity Distribution.
