MARINE AND COASTAL ACCESS ACT 2009
APPLICATION FOR CBC1 Lidge Gate Wall
Notice is hereby given that Network Rail Limited, 1 Everton Street, London, has applied to the Marine Management Organisation under the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009, Part 4, for a marine licence to undertake works on the eastern banks of Morecambe Bay, Cumbria. The works involve the repositioning of existing rock armour to accommodate the reconstruction of a concrete-base and stone-capped 3m wide bridleway with placement of new rock armour to the seaward side of the bridleway, where required. The rock armour will be made of limestone. At the south of the site, new rock armour and brushwood faggots will be placed to extend existing armour in front of saltmarsh habitat to reduce erosion that could ultimately threaten the trainline. The new rock armour will be added as required. The total amount of rock armour to be installed is 2000 tonnes. The rock armour will be delivered to the work area using a road rail plant via the railway track. Rock armour will then be offloaded onto the pitching above the existing rock armour. Rock armour will be placed using an excavator during the day. Additionally, spot repairs to existing concrete pitching will be completed along the length of the site and tablet markers indicating location mileages will be installed. The works will involve the use of excavators, road and rail vehicle (RRVs) and trailers and a small plant. The bridleway will be reinstated with cement. When the concrete has been placed, stone will be placed and compacted to create the bridleway top layer. The works will take place at low tide, between April and October, with material being delivered at night.
