What is happening?

ENVIRONMENT AGENCY Water Resources Act 1991 (as amended by the Water Act 2003) Notice of application for a transfer licence to abstract (take) water

Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence. The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from shallow alluvial deposits and peat within the boundary formed by straight lines running between the following National Grid Refence areas: LD76 - ST 45416 70722, ST 45500 70685, ST 45081 70321 and ST 45047 70408. LD75 - ST 45047 70408, ST 45081 70321, ST 44851 70137 and ST 44823 70219. LD74 - ST 44823 70219, ST 44851 70137,

ST 44668 69954 and ST 44494 69971.

LD73 - ST 44494 69971, ST 44668 69954, ST 44215 69649 and ST 44186 69719. LD72 - ST 44186 69719, ST 44215 69649, ST 43937 69403 and ST 43871 69425.

And transfer it to drains at National Grid Refences ST 45184 70480, ST 44939 70267, ST 44649 70029, ST 44382 69796 and ST 44093 69601 or adjacent grassland without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 590 cubic metres an hour

  • 5,313 cubic metres a day

  • 120,000 cubic metres a year

  • 164 litres per second

  • Between April and December inclusive in each year.
