Parish of Wem - Public Footpath Changes

WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981 

1. THE SHROPSHIRE COUNCIL (FP 1 (PART) & FP 11 PARISH OF WEM RURAL & FP 3A (PART) PARISH OF PREES) PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER 2024. 

2. THE SHROPSHIRE COUNCIL (BW 98 (PART) PARISH OF WEM RURAL) PUBLIC PATH EXTINGUISHMENT ORDER 2024. 

On 18th April 2024, The Shropshire Council (the “Council”) confirmed the above named order made under section 119 & 118 of the Highways Act 1980 and section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. 

The effect of the order as confirmed is to divert 771 metres of FP 1, FP 11 & FP 3A and extinguish 185 metres of BW 98 in the Parish of Wem Rural & Prees, within the vicinity of Upper Lacon Farm. 

A copy of the order as confirmed and the order map have been placed and may be seen on the Council’s website at https://shropshire.gov.uk/ outdoor-partnerships/countryside-access-and-public-rights-of-way/ current-public-path-orders/ or obtained free of charge via outdoor.rec- reation@shropshire.gov.uk 

Shropshire Council certify that the order became operative on 11th April 2024 but if a person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or any regulation made un- der the Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 18th April 2024 make an application to the High Court.
