What is happening?
THE NATIONAL GRID ELECTRICITY TRANSMISSION PLC (SCOTLAND TO ENGLAND GREEN LINK 1) COMPULSORY PURCHASE ORDER 2023
The Acquisition of Land Act 1981
- The National Grid Electricity Transmission plc (Scotland to England Green Link 1) Compulsory Purchase Order 2023, which has been submitted by National Grid Electricity Transmission Plc to the Secretary of State for Energy Security & Net Zero for confirmation, includes the land and the new rights described in the Schedules.
- This land and the land over which the new rights are to be acquired forms part of an open space.
- Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities in exercise of his powers under Section 19(2) of the Acquisition of Land Act 1981, in terms of section 19(1) (a) and Schedule 3 paragraph 6(1)(a), has certified that he is satisfied that that: 1) there has been or will be given in exchange for the land described in Part 1 of Schedule 1 hereto, being parts of open space within the meaning of the said Act, the land described in Schedule 2 hereto, which is not less in area and is equally advantageous to the persons, if any, entitled to rights of common or other rights, and to the public, and that the land given in exchange has been or will be vested in the persons in whom the said open spaces were vested, and subject to the like rights, trusts and incidents as attach to the said open spaces; and 2) the land described in Part 2 of Schedule 1 hereto, being parts of open space within the meaning of the said Act, when burdened with the rights described in Schedule 3, will be no less advantageous to those persons in whom it is vested and other persons, if any, entitled to rights of common or other rights, and to the public, than it was before.
- A map showing the land to which the certificate relates and the land proposed to be given in exchange may be inspected at the following locations within the noted opening hours:
- The certificate becomes operative on the date on which this notice is first published. A person aggrieved by the certificate may, by application to the High Court within 6 weeks from that date, challenge its validity on the ground that there has been a failure to comply with any relevant statutory requirement relating to the certificate.

Rights Land and the New Rights Land
Part 1
Approximately 15518 square metres of open space Plot 6-25: Substation known as open space and pathway south of Hawthorn Pit Grid shown coloured pink on Order Map 6 of 7.
Part 2
Approximately 34,478 square metres known as Plots 1-01, 1-02 and 1-03 comprise the beach (the Beach) subject to the acquisition of rights pursuant to the Order and shown coloured Blue on the Order Map 1 of 7.
Approximately 199,251 square metres known as Plots 6-11, 6-12, 6-13, 6-17. 6-19, 6-20, 6-21, 6-22, 6-23, 6-24, 6-26, 6-27, 6-28, 6-29, 6-30, 6- 31, 6-32, 6-33, 6-35, 6-36, 6-37, 6-38, 6-39, 6-40, 6-41, 6-42 and 7-21 comprise the additional informal open space (the Additional Informal Open Space) subject to the acquisition of rights pursuant to the Order and shown coloured blue on Order Map 6 of 7.
