Idless Dam - Land Drainage Improvement Works

Idless Dam Improvement Works
The Environment Agency gives notice that it proposes to carry out improvement works on Idless dam on the River Allen in Idless (Closest postcode: TR4 9QS – NGR: SW8228047248). The proposed works aim to improve the resilience of the dam and include the following:
– Construction of a 15m long by-pass pipe and its automated penstock; this includes the installation of a hardstanding platform
– Repair of the dam’s main culvert (length of the culvert: approximately 15m)
– Repair of the leat joining the River Allen on the west side of the site (length of repair: 2m)
– Operational access improvements on the dam
– Provision of better drainage for parts of the dam
The Environment Agency considers that the improvement works are not likely to have significant effects on the environment and does not intend to prepare an environmental statement in respect of them. The improvement works do not meet the selection criteria listed in Schedule 2 including the characteristics of the works, the location of the improvement works and the types and characteristics of the potential impact of the works.
Any minor effects will be managed through the Environmental Action Plan and mitigation measures will be implemented if necessary.
Any person wishing to make representations in relation to the likely environmental effects of the proposed improvement works should do so, in writing, to the address specified below, within 30 days of the date of publication of this notice.
