(FAIRVIEW AVENUE, GILLINGHAM)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an Order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable services to be connected to a property -

Fairview Avenue, Gillingham - to be closed to all vehicular traffic across the frontage of 153 Fairview Avenue. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via the main road.

This Order will come into force on Monday, 22 April 2024 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Monday, 22 April 2024 and are programmed for completion within 12 days. The Order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.

(CASTLE ROAD, CHATHAM)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an Order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable the gas main to be replaced -

Castle Road, Chatham - to be closed to all vehicular traffic between the junction with Victoria Road and the junction with Magpie Hall Road. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Listmas Road.

This Order will come into force on Monday, 15 April 2024 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Monday, 15 April 2024 and are programmed for completion within three weeks. The Order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.

(CHAMBERLAIN ROAD, CHATHAM)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an Order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable water supply equipment to be repaired or replaced -

Chamberlain Road, Chatham - to be closed to all vehicular traffic across the frontage of 134 Chaberlain Avenue. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Bright Road, Reform Road, Castle Road and Grove Road.

This Order will come into force on Wednesday, 24 April 2024 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Wednesday, 24 April 2024 and are programmed for completion within six days. The Order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.

(CHATHAM TOWN CENTRE) (TRAFFIC REGULATION)

ORDER 2024

Notice is hereby given that MEDWAY COUNCIL propose to make the above-named Order under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 3(2), 4(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the chief officer of police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act -

The Order is required two rationalise the traffic restrictions in Chatham town centre so as to route vehicles in a way that minimises vehicle distances travelled thus improving pedestrian space, and to then (for administrative convenience) consolidate all relevant new and existing restrictions into a new Order.

The principal effect of the Order is (a) create a Pedestrian Zone operating between 10am and 5pm – seven days a week – through High Street and which will prohibit vehicle access to Military Road from Globe Lane and to High Street from Bachelor Street during these times; (b) make Batchelor Street two way but with traffic travelling towards High Street required to then turn left and follow one way; (c) make Church Street one way from High Street towards Whittaker Street; (c) make High Street one way between Military Road/Railway Street and The Brook with all traffic exiting High Street required to turn left; (d) prohibiting left or right turns into High Street from Union Street/The Brook.

Also, the overnight (5pm-10am) goods vehicle loading bay in High Street opposite 302/304 High Street will be confirmed.

Full details are contained in the draft Order, a copy of which together with a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order, a maps indicating the location and effect and a copy of any Order which will be amended or revoked by the experimental Order, may be examined at the Medway Council Offices, Gun Wharf, Dock Road, Chatham, Kent ME4 4TR, during normal office hours.

If you wish to object to the Order being made permanent you should send the grounds for your objection in writing to Medway Council, Regeneration, Culture, Environment and Transformation, Front Line Services, by 12noon on Tuesday, 7 May 2024.
