VARIOUS ROADS, MEDWAY

(COMMUNITY EVENTS) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF

TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restriction, on traffic to facilitite the construction and removal of structures requred for the holding of public community events, or because of the likelihood of danger to the public whilst an event is taking place -

Traffic Management - To facilitate the holding of the event mentioned in column (1) of the Table, on the dates and between the times set out in the corresponding column, (2) and (3), the traffic management provision, detailed in the Schedule identified in the corresponding column (4) will apply. These

provisions, will be in force a, indicated in the Schedule below. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. Alternative routes for through traffic will be signed locally. Access to premises will be maintained where possible.

This Order will come into force on Monday, 22 April 2024, and will cease to have effect on Tuesday, 20 August 2024.
The Order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are displayed.

Castle Hill from Esplanade to Epaul Lane, to include Castle Hill Court-to include suspension of one-way operation to allow resident/event vehicle access.
Epaul Lane from Castle Hill to Boley Hill-to include suspension of no entry and one-way operation to a How resident/event vehicle access.
Boley Hill from St Margaret, Street to High Street -to include College Yard/The Precinct.
College Yard from The Precinct to High Street and The Precinct from Minor Canon Row to College Yard.

 

Schedule B1-1:
Road Closures and Traffic restrictions

High Street Rochester from Corporation Street bus lane to Star Hill - to include suspension of one-way operation, no entry and pedestrianised zone for authorised vehicles only.
Almon Place from 40metre, southwest of Corporation Street to High Street.

Bishops Walk, Eastgate Court, Eastgate Terrace and La Providence at High Street.
Crow Lane from High Street to Vines Lane.
Blue Boar Lane from car park entrance to High Street.
Northgate from cathedral car park to High Street and Cathedral Car Park at High Street.
Boley Hill from St Margaret, Street to High Street, to Include College Yard/The Precinct.
College Yard from The Precinct to High Street and The Precinct from Minor Canon Row to College Yard. Almon Place suspend southbound only operation and allow two-way traffic flow.
Boley Hill at High Street, suspension of no left or right turn for authorised vehicles only -(05O0hrs to 2300hrs).

 

Schedule B2-1:
Corporatlon Street (Chatham bound) no vehicle is permitted to right hand turn into Northgate.

 

Schedule B3-1:
Intermittent road closures and Traffic restrictions

Castle Hill from Esplanade to Epaul Lane, to include Castle Hill Court-to include suspension of one-way operation to allow resident/event vehicle access.
Epaul Lane from castle Hill to Boley Hill -to include suspension of no entry and one-way operation to allow resident/event vehicle access.
Boley Hill from High Street to St Margaret, Street.
The roads above will be closed intermittently throughout these dates to allow for vehicle/plant ingress and/or egress to the Castle Gardens and Castle Moat area.

 

Schedule B4-1:
Suspension of on-street parking bays as indicated by signs. Suspension of single yellow line restrictions to no parking at anytime, as indicated by signs and AAT cones.

Esplanade, Rochester from its southern side of Bakers walk to the north side of Shorts Reach roundabout (both sides).
Esplanade on street parking -entire length (both sides) excluding private RBT (Rochester Bridge Trust) bays.
Crow Lane from High Street to it junction with Vine, Lane (both sides).
Northgate from Corporation Street to it junction with High Street.
Blue Boar Lane from Corporation Street to High Street. Bardell Terrace-entire length (both sides). Furrells Road - entire length (both sides).

High Street Chatham from its eastern junction of Waterfront Way to The Brook, to include the junctions with Clover Street, Batchelor Street and Church Street-to include suspension of one-way operaton for authorised vehicles
Church Street from its junction of High Street to Rhodes Street, to include Whittaker Street-to include suspension of no entry and one-way operation to allow event vehicle access
Batchelor Street from its junction of High Street to Solomon, Road-to include suspension of no entry for authorised vehicles.

REASON FOR INQUIRY
Appeal(s) by Mr John Collins
Against the enforcement notice(s) served by Medway Council.

 

The notice(s) allege(,):
Without the benefit of planning permission (a) the material change of use of the Land for the mooring of a water borne vessel used for residential purposes (b) the operational development consisting of piles being driven into the riverbed of the River Medway within the Land to enable the mooring of water borne vessels and the construction of a jetty and steps to create an access onto the riverbank on the Land.

An Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State under paragraph 1 (1) of Schedule 6 to the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 will attend at the place, date and time shown above to decide the appeal(s).
