Swale, Council Tax Notice
What is happening?
Swale Borough Council hereby gives notice that on 21 February 2024, in accordance with Section 38 of the Local Government Finance Act 1992, it has set for the year commencing 1st April 2024, a Council Tax for each of the Bands A - H. These details, together with the areas of Swale, which include a precept being collected for Parish/Town Councils, Kent County Council, the Kent Police and Crime Commissioner and Kent and Medway Fire and Rescue Authority are shown in the table below.

Second homes - dwellings which are normally unoccupied and furnished will receive a discount of 0%.
Empty properties - dwellings which are normally unoccupied and unfurnished for a period of 12 months or less will receive a discount of 0%
Empty properties - dwellings which are normally unoccupied and unfurnished for a period of one year or more will receive a discount of 0% and have the Council Tax charge increased by 100%
Empty properties - dwellings which are normally unoccupied and unfurnished for a period of five years or more will receive a discount of 0% and have the Council Tax charge increased by 200%
Empty properties - dwellings which are normally unoccupied and unfurnished for a period of ten years or more will receive a discount of 0% and have the Council Tax charge increased by 300%
Empty and unfurnished properties requiring or undergoing structural repair or alteration or major works will receive a discount of 0%
