Shropshire - Badger control licences
What is happening?
Notification of an application or expression of interest for a Supplementary Badger Control Licence for the purpose of continuing to prevent the spread of bovine TB under section 10(2)(a) of the Protection of Badgers Act 1992. Notice is hereby given that Natural England has received applications or expressions of interest for supplementary badger control licences to cull badgers in the county of Shropshire. This Notice gives the public Opportunity to Comment (OTC) on the potential impacts to their business or livelihoods if a licence application were successful. The OTC is not seeking comments on the Government’s overall policy on bTB and badger control, a public consultation on which has previously been held. If you would like to comment on the policy, please contact DEFRA by emailing: defra.helpline@defra.gov.uk. Anyone may submit information they consider Natural England should be aware of when determining this application via completing the online survey by 23:59 04 March 2024. Please visit https://www.gov.uk/ and search for “Bovine TB: comment on an application for a Supplementary Badger Disease Control Licence, 19 February 2024” to submit your response form. Alternatively, you can post your comments to Natural England, BM 6283, London WC1N 3XX. We will take account of any representations received after the deadline and before any decision to grant a licence is made which arises from a change in personal circumstances or new local considerations after the deadline. A summary of the responses to this Opportunity to Comment will be published on GOV.UK.
