COUNTY OF HEREFORDSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL LOCAL GOVERNMENT (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT 1976 HACKNEY CARRIAGE FARES
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Herefordshire Council in accordance with Section 65 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 propose to set the maximum fare charged in a licensed Hackney Carriage for the period 2024/2025 or until further notice:

Inclusive of VAT
For each journey not exceeding 1007.22 yds. (921 m):
1141.7yds. (1044m): £3.50 (£3.50)
For each subsequent 62.88 yds. (57.5m):
66.93 yds. (61.2m) or part thereof: E0.10 (£0.10)
Waiting time for each period of 18.2 seconds (19.4): £0.10 (£0.10)
Tariff two
For any hiring begun between 11.00pm and 8.00am and on
Public Holidays other than those listed below
in Tariff three: 150% of tariff one
Tariff three
For any hiring begun between:
11.00pm on 24 December to 8.00am on 27 December: 200% of tariff one 11.00pm on 31 December to 8.00am on 2 January: 8.00am on Easter Sunday to 8.00am the following Tuesday
Extra charges
Additional passengers over 4: When five or more passengers are carried in a vehicle licensed for such numbers, for either the whole journey or any part thereof | The appropriate tariff above plus 50% |
For each package other than hand luggage | £0.50 (0.30) |
For each bicycle or perambulator | £0.50 (0.30) |
For each person in excess of two | £1.00 (0.70) |
For cleaning a vehicle where it has been fouled by passengers | £100.00 (£75) |
Any objections to the proposed increases should be made in writing stating the reason and be sent to Taxi Licensing, Herefordshire Council, Plough Lane, Hereford, HR4 OLE or emailed to taxilicensing@herefordshire.gov.uk with 'Taxi Tariff Consultation' in the subject line before 18th February 2024.
If no objections are made or if all objections so made are withdrawn, the proposed increase shall come into operation on 21st February 2024, or at the date of withdrawal of the last objection, whichever is the later, subject to approval of the Licensing Authority.
If objections are duly made and not withdrawn, Herefordshire Council shall set a further date no later than two months after the date specified above on which the proposed increases shall take effect with or without modifications, as decided by Licensing Authority after consideration of any objections.
