What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Londonderry Lane, Smethwick) (Temporary One-Way Operation) Order 2024 intends to make an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Londonderry Lane, Smethwick between Queen’s Road and Francis Road other than inawesterly direction. A diversion route for eastbound traffic will be signed via Thimblemill Road, Hales Lane, Manor Road and Londonderry Lane. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 22/03/2024 effective from 05/02/2024. Purpose – to facillitate asset reinforcement works by Cadent Gas Ltd. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Kirkham Way, Tipton) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Kirkham Way Tipton, between Alexandra Road and Hursey Drive. A diversion route will be signed via Alexandra Road, Lower Church Lane, Churchyard Road, Station Street, Puppy Green, Standbridge Way and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to commence and be completed on 04/02/2024. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Shenstone Road, Smethwick) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Shenstone Road, Smethwick between Dudley Road and Barleycorn Drive. A diversion route will be signed via Paignton Road, Rotton Park Road, Dudley Road and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 09/02/2024 effective from 08/02/2024 (8pm-6am only). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Margaret Street, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Margaret Street, West Bromwich which will be closed at the junction of Bromford Lane. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Bromford Lane, Caroline Street,Westbourne Road and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 08/02/2024 effective from 05/02/2024 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access to replace a water service pipe by South Staffs Water.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Upper St Marys Road, Smethwick) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Upper St Marys Road, Smethwick between the junctions of Galton Road (eastern side) and Park Road (western side). Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Barclay Road, Three Shires Oak Road, Bearwood Road, St Marys Road and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to commence and be completed on 08/02/2024 (9.30am-3.30pm). Purpose – to facilitate access to replace a manhole cover and frame by Customer Solutions Plus on behalf of Severn Trent Water.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Shaw Road, Tipton) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Shaw Road, Tipton at the junction of Morrison Road. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Morrison Road, Brock Road, Bevan Road and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 21/02/2024 effective from 08/02/2024 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access to install new low voltage service cables by National Grid Electricity Distribution.
