Confirmation of Siren Test at
Diageo Bonnybridge
Saturday 10th February 2024
between 10am and 5pm

In February 2006 Diageo Bonnybridge announced that new legislation known as the Control of Major Accident Hazards or COMAH for short had classed Scotch whisky and other spirits as hazardous substances (because they are flammable) and that as a consequence the Bonnybridge site has been specially registered with the authorities.

The legislation also means we have to alert our neighbours in the unlikely event of a major accident. This alert involves sounding a siren positioned on our site. To ensure that the sirens are always operational in the event of an emergency there is a requirement to test them annually.

Please note that there is no requirement for you to take any action on hearing the sirens.

Our operations have not changed, the hazards have not increased and the likelihood of an incident is no greater than before – COMAH simply means we have to record and present information in a different way.

We would just like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause, however, as I’m sure you can appreciate, it is a legal requirement for us to conduct this test. Thank you for your continued cooperation in this matter.

If you have any questions on the above please contact 01259 495156.
