What is happening?

SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE COUNCIL

(Old Gloucester Road, Winterbourne) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles,

Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close,
temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Old Gloucester Road which
extends from a point 90m north of Players Close northwards for 90m. This order is required for the following reason:
in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon bridge inspection works on or adjacent to
the highway. The order will be operative from 28 January 2024 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The
closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and
only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 night duration, between the hours
of 9pm and 5am. Alternative route: Old Gloucester Road (parts unaffected), B4057, Beacon Lane, Winterbourne
Hill, Bristol Road, Whiteshill, Old Gloucester Road (parts unaffected) and vice versa
(Mill Lane, Bitton) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of
the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close,
temporarily, to vehicles that length of Mill Lane which extends from A431 north eastwards for 25m. This order is
required for the following reason: in connection with service pipe works. The order will be operative from 31 January
2024 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the
period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are
anticipated to be of 3 days duration. Alternative route: A431, Somerville Way, Bevan Road and vice versa
(Kelston Close, Yate) (Prohibition of Driving Restricted Hours) Order 202(-)
Details of the proposed changes
NOTICE is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council proposes to make an order under sections 1(1),
2(1) to (3) and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which will be
to:- a) prohibit any motor vehicle entering or proceeding in that length of Kelson Close, Yate which extends from
a point 87m south of Rodford Way for 72m, during the restricted hours; and b) revoke the South Gloucestershire
Council (Kelson Close, Yate) (Prohibition of Driving Restricted Hours) Order 2021 in favour of item a) above.
Exemptions are contained in the order for vehicles to be used for building, industrial or demolition operations;
the removal of any obstruction to traffic; the maintenance, improvement or reconstruction of the road; the laying,
erection, alteration or repair in, or in land adjacent to the road of any sewer, or of any main, pipe or apparatus
for the supply of gas, water or electricity or any telecommunication apparatus; in the service of a local authority,
for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes in exercise of official duties and for the purpose of gaining access
to premises accessible only from that length of road. Full details of the proposal are contained in the draft order.

Council to refuse to grant planning permission for the proposed development, and that appeal then proceeds by way
of the expedited procedure under the written representations procedure, any representations made to the council
about this application will be passed to the Secretary of State and there will be no opportunity to make further
representations.
