What is happening?

CANNOCK CHASE DISTRICT COUNCIL 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, as required under Section 65 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976, of proposed revised taxi fares within the district, requested by the Taxi Trade. HACKNEY CARRIAGES Provisions fixing the rates or fares to be paid for hackney carriages within the district and securing the due publication of such fares. The proprietor or driver of a Hackney Carriage shall be entitled to demand and take for the hire of the carriage the rate or fare prescribed by the following table, the rate or fare being calculated by distance and time unless the hirer expresses at the commencement of the hiring his desire to engage by time only. Provided always that where a Hackney Carriage furnished with a taxi meter shall be hired by distance and time the Proprietor or driver thereof shall not be entitled to demand and take a fare greater than the recorded on the face of the taxi meter. HIRING CHARGE TARIFF 1 TARIFF 2 TARIFF 3 MILEAGE For the first 210.31 metres (230 yards) or £3.30 £4.95 £6.60 60 seconds or part thereof For each subsequent 160.93 metres (176 yards) or 45 seconds or part thereof 20p 30p 40p WAITING TIME Applies to any delay caused by the passenger after £16.00 per hour £24.00 per hour £32.00 per hour the agreed hiring time EXTRA CHARGES ADDITIONAL When five or more passengers are carried in a vehicle licensed for The appropriate tariff above PASSENGERS OVER 4 such numbers, for either the whole journey or any part thereof plus 50% LONG DISTANCES When the journey begins and/or ends outside of the Cannock Either to be agreed in advance Chase District boundaries of hiring or the appropriate tariff above SOILING CHARGE Where the vehicle has to be removed from service until valeted £70 Tariff 1 For hiring on any day except as below: Tariff 2 (a) For hirings between 18.00 hours on Christmas Eve and Midnight on Christmas Eve (b) For hirings between 18.00 hours on New Years Eve and Midnight on New Years Eve (c) For hirings between Midnight and 07.00 hours (d) For hirings on all Bank Holidays/Public Holidays Tariff 3 (a) For hirings between Midnight on Christmas Eve and 07.00 hours on Boxing Day (including all day Christmas Day) (b) For hirings between Midnight on New Year’s Eve and 07.00 hours on New Year’s Day Provided that where a Hackney Carriage may have been used to convey the hirer from the place to which he was conveyed therein to the place at which the Hackney Carriage was originally hired, the rate or fare payable in respect of the whole journey shall be three quarters the sum prescribed by the above table. Copies of this Notice may be inspected by the public during normal office hours at the Civic Offices, Beecroft Road, Cannock, Staffordshire, WS11 1BG. Any objections should be made in writing to the address below by no later than 14 December 2023, or by email to: licensingunit@cannockchasedc.gov.uk . If no objections are received or objections are made and subsequently withdrawn, the revised fares will be effective from 15 December 2023 or the first working day after objections are withdrawn, whichever is the later. If objections are received which are not withdrawn, then those objections will be considered by the Council and the table of fares shall come into force with or without modifications as decided by the Council after consideration of the objections not later than 2 months after the first specified date, namely, 15 February 2024.
