Sandwell - Various Temporary Road Closures

What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL 

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Houghton Street, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closures) Order 2023 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Houghton Street, West Bromwich which will be closed between the junctions of Spon Lane South and Hall Street South (access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits). A traffic diversion route (northerly direction) will be signed via Spon Lane South, Kenrick Way (eastbound), Telford Way roundabout, Kenrick Way (westbound) and Hall Street South. A further traffic diversion route (southerly direction) will be signed via Hall Street South and Spon Lane South. The maximum duration for is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 29th February 2024 effective from 23rd October 2023 (7pm - 6am for 3 days a week as detailed below). Closure dates as follows:- 23rd - 27th October 2023, 30th - 31st October 2023, 1st - 2nd November 2023, 6th - 9th November 2023, 13th - 16th November 2023, 20th - 23rd November 2023, 27th - 30th November 2023, 4th - 7th December 2023, 11th - 14th December 2023, 18th - 21st December 2023, 15th - 18th January 2024, 22nd - 25th January 2024, 29th - 31st January 2024, 1st February 2024, 5th - 8th February 2024, 12th - 15th February 2024, 19th - 22nd February 2024 & 26th - 29th February 2024. Purpose – to facilitate access for concrete repairs to the underside of the M5 carriageway by National Highways. 

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Wattle Road, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2023 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Wattle Road, West Bromwich which will be closed at the junction of Greets Green Road (access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits). A traffic diversion route will be signed via Greets Green Road, Claypit Lane, New Road and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 06/11/2023 effective from 23/10/2023 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access for works to upgrade high voltage electrical network to accommodate new supply to the Delta Point Trading Estate by National Grid Electricity.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Kingsway, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2023 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Kingsway, Oldbury (service road to houses) between the extended boundaries to No’s 28/30 and No’s 44/46 Kingsway. A diversion route will be signed via Lewis Road, Kingsway, Walters Road and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 26/10/2023 effective from 23/10/2023. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Downing Street, Cornwall Road, King Street & Mornington Road, Smethwick) (Temporary Road Closures) Order 2023 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Downing Street, Smethwick between the junctions of Lewisham Road and Wattville Road, Cornwall Road at the junction of Downing Street, King Street at the junction of Downing Street and Mornington Road at the junction of Downing Street (access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits). A traffic diversion route will be signed via Bridge Street North, Rolfe Street, Rabone Lane, Downing Street and vice-versa. A further traffic diversion route will be signed via Lewisham Road, Middlemore Road, Holyhead Road, Wattville Road and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 26/10/2023 effective from 23/10/2023 (24hr). Purpose – to provide access to plane out and lay new carriageway surfacing by McPhillips Limited on behalf of Sandwell MBC Highways. 

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Factory Road, Tipton) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2023 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Factory Road, Tipton from the jucnction of Dolton Way (southern side) to the southern side of the canal bridge (access to affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits). A diversion route will be signed via Owen Street, Sedgley Road West (A457) and Hurst Lane (A4037) and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 27/10/2023 effective from 23/10/2023 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access for water service works by Onsite on behalf of South Staffs Water.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Vicarage Road, Smethwick) ( Temporary Road Closure) Order 2023 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Vicarage Road, Smethwick from the junction of Church Hill Street to the gable end of property No.41 (access to frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits). A traffic diversion route will be signed via Church Hill Street, Stony Lane, Green Street and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 03/11/2023 effective from 23/10/2023 (24hr). Purpose – to provide access to complete a 3.2m deep excavation to replace a 6m length of service pipe by Customer Solutions Plus on behalf of Severn Trent water.
