THE HAYLOCK ALMSHOUSE TRUST
CASTLE CAMPS
REGISTERED CHARITY NO 222509
PROPOSED APPLICATION TO THE CHARITY
COMMISSION TO AMEND THE TRUST DEED
• The Trustees of the Haylock Almshouse Charity wish
to make an application to the Charity Commission to
amend the charity's Trust Deed to broaden the criteria
for eligibility for appointment as an almsperson.
• The reason for this proposal is that the current criteria
for eligibility are too restrictive, making it difficult to
secure applicants eligible to fill any vacancies which
may arise in the almshouses.
• The proposed changes to the Trust Deed are shown
in italics below
• Para 5 (1) The almspeople shall be poor persons of
good character who from age, ill-health, accident or
infirmity and/or other adverse circumstances are
wholly or in part unable to maintain themselves by their
own exertions
• Para 5 (2) The almspeople being persons qualified as
aforesaid shall be selected from the following classes
of persons in the following order of priority:
• (a) Persons who are and have not for less than three
years next preceding the time of appointment been
bona fide resident in the Parish of Castle Camps
aforesaid
• (b) Persons who are at the date of appointment bona
fide resident in the said Parish
• (c) Persons born but not resident in the said Parish.
• (d) Persons with some other verifiable connection
with the parish of Castle Camps, but not limited
to family, education or employment, either of
themselves or their children or other relatives.
Comments and/or queries on the proposals may be
sent to the Clerk to the Trustees at the address below
or by email to andrewsdenwebb@icloud.com, by
28th September 2023.
