Appointment to the Education

Resources Committee of South Lanarkshire Council of One Person Interested in the Promotion of Religious Education

In terms of Section 124 of the Local Government

(Scotland) Act 1973, as substituted by the Local

Government Etc (Scotland) Act 1994, South Lanarkshire Council is looking for a third religious representative to serve on its Education Resources Committee.  The Committee meets every 8 weeks  and has a Church of Scotland and Roman Catholic Church representative.

Any person, or any church or denominational body which has a duly constituted charge or other regular place of worship within South Lanarkshire, is invited to nominate a person who is interested in the promotion of religious and moral education to serve on the Education Resources Committee.

All nominations, which must be in writing, should be sent to the Chief Executive, South Lanarkshire Council Offices, Almada Street, Hamilton, ML3 0AA. Email: pach.exec@southlanarkshire.gov.uk

Nominations must be submitted by 8 September 2023 and provide:

•   the full name and address of the person nominated

•   a statement by the nominee (or the church or denominational body) stating the reasons why they would wish to join the committee and what benefits they would bring

•   any additional information which would be helpful in the selection process, such as the number of people who are members of the church or denominational body
