Sandwell - Various Temporary Road Closures
What is happening?
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Londonderry Lane, Smethwick) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2023 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Londonderry Lane, Smethwick which will be closed at the junction of Queens Road to gable end of property No.221 Londonderry Lane (access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits). A diversion route will be signed via Queens Road, Warley Road, Basons Lane, Manor Road and vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 11/08/2023 effective from 31/07/2023 (24hr). Purpose – installation of a new speed table and tactile crossing point by Stourbridge Paving Company on behalf of Sandwell MBC Highways.
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Birmingham Street, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2023 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Birmingham Street, Oldbury from the junction of Halesowen Street/Church Street to the junction of Unity Place (western side). Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. The following diversion routes will be signed; 1) Oldbury Ringway, Halesowen Street and vice-versa. 2) Church Street and Oldbury Ringway. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 30/07/2023 effective from 29/07/2023 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access to lay water service pipes to new development by Onsite on behalf of South Staffs Water.
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Cape Hill, Smethwick) (Temporary One-Way Operataion) Order 2023 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles (through traffic) from proceeding along Cape Hill, Smethwick between Waterloo Road and Shireland Road other than in an easterly direction. Access for right turning traffic into the Windmills Shopping Centre will be maintained. A diversion route for westbound traffic will be signed via Waterloo Road, Bearwood Road, and back on to High Street via the gap in the green area apposite Victoria Park. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 02/08/2023 effective from 31/07/2023. Purpose – installation of a new water supply by On Site for South Staffs Water. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Station Road, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2023 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Station Road, Oldbury between the junctions of Thompson Road (western side) and Mill Lane (western side). Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits). The following diversion routes will be signed; 1) Vicarage Road, Rood End Road, Birmingham Road, Oldbury Ringway, Churchbridge, Park Street, Park Lane and vice-versa. 2) New John Street to join main diversion route at Vicarage Road (for traffic approaching Mill Lane on Langley Green Road in a southerly direction). The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 27/08/2023 effective from 31/07/2023 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access to lay water mains to new development by Onsite on behalf of South Staffs Water and to complete S278 carriageway/footway resurfacing works by Stave-Con Limited.
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Giffords Way, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2023 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Giffords Way, West Bromwich. No diversion route will be signed as Giffords Way is a cul-de-sac. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 18/08/2023 effective from 31/07/2023. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Piercy Street, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closures) Order 2023 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Piercy Street, West Bromwich which will be closed from the junction of Wood Lane for a distance of 50 metres (access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits). A diversion route will be signed via Bull Lane, Albion Road, Gads Lane, Wood Lane and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 06/09/2023 effective from 31/07/2023. The works will carried out between the hours of 8am - 6pm on three individual ocassions of a one-day duration during this period. Purpose – to facilitate access for the use of a mobile crane by Qual’s Construction Limited.
